JJ...I haven't even started lifting yet...I'm just looking to get started...I have some gut to lose...I just gave up beer and cigarettes this past May so I have a very long way to go.
DAM yeah you got a ways to go - but use that to your advantage. Here's how, start an HST training protocol 3 days a week prolly like M,W,F and take advantage of being able to gain muscle and loose weight at the same time - it's only a short window of oportunity so bust your ballz!!!! Don't do anything like MaxOT for the firstt three to five months and keep your protein and carb intake balanced for maximal growth. Don't hit the creatine until you run reach a platue. But like I say if you never lifted before and want to drop some weight - use HST 3 days a week but follow it strictly it's easy to over train using it. Good luck!!
