There's a perception that anyone belonging to the Nazi party in any capacity should be held accountable for everything that is alleged to have taken place.  They're charging him based on affiliation, not necessarily any acts on his part.  What role would a medic have had that they should charge him?  By that same edict, anyone belonging to the U.S military in any capacity should be put on trial for crimes against humanity for the illegal war in Iraq and the use of white phosphorous on civilians there.

Yeah, justice is not just for the victims, but also the criminal.

There is certainly nothing you can do to a 95 year old with dementia that is going to matter.

Here's the point: that no matter how much TIME passes, if you took part in the evil that was the holocaust, you WILL be found and you WILL be punished.  End of story.  Dementia or not, this nazi did what he did, knew what he did, and lived for decades while he was either directly or indirectly responsible for the deaths of many people.  He lived in fear, even though he was free, fear of being caught.  Which he eventually was.  This is justice.

Is it pointless now?...what possible reason could you put a demented 95 year old nazi in jail?  To let people know that justice exists, that as long as there are people hunting these assholes, there is no rest, nowhere to hide.  

I think it's great news.  Won't do a damn for the harm he's caused, but justice has been served.  

There's the rub: They cannot actually prove this. Show me the document where it says that no jew would have died there and then if this guy had refused to follow orders and had gotten executed instead, and I will gladly change my mind. Or any documents at all that he made any decision whatsoever that would have affected the outcome. This case is grasping at straws. By the same logic the US should be convicting all the Homer Simpsons who work at powerplants that have generated the energy for the electric chairs.

So yes, I'm against this case because legally it represents a very slippery slope. Guilt by association is the end of freedom.
