Don't worry mayne. You've got bigger things to worry about.
Like your face ;D

C A R D I O...I am not sure what that is... ;D Is that the area before the weight room?
Hate anything I have to step up and down on or swing back and forth on for that matter.

hahahahaha, yeah, i just want to get my waist down to 32 or 33 and get my face somewhat leaner. ;D
-
the Stepmill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! discuss.
The only problem I have with the stepmill is the steps aren't deep enough to get your whole foot on, so then you end up either on your toes/balls of your feet, which hit the calves a lot OR stepping on it bow-legged.
-
the Stepmill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! discuss.
I agree, easily the most brutal piece of cardio equipment.
-

Hold one one second now all I can think about is your calves... ;D Sorry I got distracted.
-
It's the most brutal commonly found piece. I owned one; the steppers are also effective, if the time and effort's put in with decent ROM and not too much holding on to the rails.
Versa climber's possibly even worse but isn't as common or necessary.
-

yeah i know i have the same problem i wear a 12 and a half shoe and i have to step on the damn thing with the front half of my foot, i take it two steps at a time as well.
-

the Stepmill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! discuss.
It isn't rocket science (or to you maybe it is)...Your output has to be greater than your intake and then you will not be a fat slob...Hope this helps...

Agreed.
My 'guru' consulted with me and wants me to bump up my efforts on the 'fat burn' program at Level-6 for NO less than 30 minutes a day 5x's a week.
I find myself hunched all over the machine and pouring sweat everywhere around the 18 minute mark.
Will help eat up bodyfat and bring out ham/glute tie-in, though.
-
elliptical for me, the kind with the moving handles. stairsteppers screw me up, i can't keep my heels down.

dude i can't even fuccking imagine 30 minutes that is BRUTAL i just barely squeezed out 12 minutes at level 6 after training legs today, i might be able to get 18-20 if i hadn't lifted before hand.

IT'S MY FAVORITE PEACE OF CARDIO EQUIPMENT, IN FLORIDA THEY CALL THE STEP MILL THE WIDOWMAKER

A guy at my old gym would do it for 45 minutes on a high setting when preparing for a contest. He would lose more fat, more quickly, than anyone I've ever seen. His transformation was nothing short of amazing.
-
you look good Mal but me and you both could prolly use some.
thanks..im thinkin like this...i aint gonna stop eatin...dude thats just out...so im gonn have to train harder and burn the carbs and do cardio after and then in the am..
man i eat my ass off...today alone
Burrito from chipotles with a big ass coke

I'm telling ya...it's fkn MIDEIVEL that thing is.
30 minutes on the 'fat burn' option at level 6 will burn about 360+ calories. It stings but it's necessary. I want to qualify this year for Nationals.
I put my towel over th emonito so I don't stare at the clock/timer. It helps a little. Motley Crue on my iPod does as well.
After that...it's treadmill (LifeFitness 9500hr) for 15-20 minutes at incline 4-6 range and speed of 3.0-3.8mph. Up and down up and down.

na for real i use redline..

360cals in 30 minutes is usually what i get on the elliptical. most i've ever managed was 500, but i almost passed out at the end.
it's crazy, back when i was really trying to lose the weight i was doing 500cals on the bike and 500cals on the stairstepper 4x a week. 4000 cals burnt a week, not counting my dieting. it was fucking unreal. my endurance was outta the park at the time, i was running 5:30 miles pretty easily etc. of course i was 160 pounds back then, so hey. ;D

Damm thats a ton of food...The whole die part is correct but I want to push it off as far as possiable.

20 minutes on a stepmill, or 30+ of something else, 6 days a week with decent diet with one cheat day a week will get you in shape by May-June. And of course it will get a little easier in a couple of weeks if used daily.
30 minutes on a stepmill's an accomplishment, i could never do it. No coincidence that there's rarely if ever a line for the stepmill at gyms.
-
definetly the worst by far
-
yeah, i'm quite a bit older than you though Mal, i'll be 35 on Saturday so i'm gonna clean up the diet too for awhile.
yeah i tried that shit...dosent fit my lifestyle hahahaha
na for real though clean diet alright SF....start on monday...diet logs..the both of us...ill need t be cut for my birthday trip to the MIA.
-
I could do 30, but I damn near needed a stretcher afterward. 45 and i'd be involuntarily shitting my pants like those marathon runners do.

That was probrably water weight (the first 10-15 usually are)...
Seriously Bro to lose any serious weight you need to cut out all that shit...
Try to cut your caloric intake in half and then you will see real results...
-
very true, this is the only piece of cardio they have in my gym that is worth anything...but a lot of gyms dont even have it, so im thankful mine does.
ive gotten up to about 40 minutes on the "aerobic workout" setting with a level 18 intensity. it is very hard, but as blockhead said the mp3 player helps as do the two caffeine pills and two ephedrine pills. machine is absolutely drenched in sweat afterwards.
-

Mal gets more ass than a toilet seat anyway.
-
I find road running burns fat best, and its more interesting seeing scenery, etc with your MP3 player on rather than just staring at a wall or ion the mirror while doing stepmill, treadmill or bike.

The same coincidence that dictates you can ALWAYS have an open squat rack on a Monday night at 7pm in ANY gym across Planet Earth.
A bottle of REDLINE(try the new Green Apple flavor) 10 minutes before the Stepmill will help. Awesome pre-cardio drink. I'd be smart and pop a handful of BCAA's and have a little bit of glutamine as well beforehand.

Running's also great, for those who can take the punishment without getting leg problems.

IMO running strips you of mass too easily. Yes, you drop weight quick, but if you're holding a decent amount of mass, it will go quick with running.

level 18????? holy shit. :o
haha, I didn't even know it would go up to level 18 ;D
I agree with ya SF, the step mill is the devil.
-
all i know is that this shit is torture, getting used to having less food in your stomach, going to bed a little bit hungry but waking up with your stomach feeling smaller is rewarding enough, this shit is one of the toughest things i've done in a long time.
-
fuck that
My thoughts exactly. It's too hard to gain to go running it off.

it goes up to 20 i believe, at least on the cardio setting. mine is a stairmaster brand with the revolving stairs that drop down, not sure if its specifically "stepmill" tho

nope ure definately not hbk. ::)

down 9 pounds, i was 239 last Thursday, i was 230.4 on the digital sclae at the gym today.
-
right now i've been eating a 10 oz. piece of very lean top round and 1 slice of bread an hour before bed.
I do something similar, but man I get that craving for something else right before bed.
I know everybody preaches the low carb thing, but man it seriously works. It's hard because you get weaker and grumpy, but it will get you ripped. The alternative is Winny and Tren hahah, which I am really considering.
-
nope ure definately not hbk. ::)
haha he used that exact expression back in 2003
-
yeah i think it's just a different machine.
i just checked it out, same one
(http://www.home-gym-equipment-guide.com/steppers/stairmaster/images/stairmaster-stepmill.jpg)
i guess i'm just a cardio badass ;D on the most intense sections you're actually running
doing it 3 days a week you improve rapidly, just like with lifting. starting on level 12-13 for an hour is pretty boring, its better to knock it out at a higher intensity for 30-40 min
-
nope ure definately not hbk. ::)
You are fucking annoying dude.

The torture only gets easier through daily cardio for 20 minutes or more. A few times a week won't help that much IMO.
Stairmaster is the only one that makes it, the original stair machine from the 80s. Dieting down isn't as good or as healthy.
-

Stairmaster is the only one that makes it, with a couple of asian knockoffs that aren't made in big numbers.
ok bowflex, no one trains as hard as you we know. ;D

Can't do it or the treadmill. I can barely walk with my knees. I can bust my ass on the bike though.
-

I'm in the beginning weeks of a 3 month fat loss cycle, meaning daily cardio and better diet. Perfect time to get in shape for summer, if started now, not later. 3 days a week cardio's cute but no comparison in terms of effectiveness.

3 times a week of doing 40 minutes is definitely going to add something. i can burn off 400+ calories in that time, and 1200 calories burned just via cardio is certainly a dent. any more than that and it's catabolism city for me.
-

Dude, that's less than 1lb/week... I thought you had a friendly bet with SF to see who can tone up by the beginning of summer ? Which is 3 months away. Are you cutting your intake as well?
-

Total weekly time on the machine's the most important thing, though daily or even twice daily still seems more effective to me.
-

no, i'm eating the exact same. ::)
of course i'm cutting my intake. i'm severely regimenting my diet, i've got some scorch coming in the mail, and i'm doing 3x a week cardio. that's PLENTY until i start trying to shave down into the low low fat levels.

Definately will speed up the process thats why you make your workouts more intense. Everyone is different I guess, I just feel flat and exhausted after AM cardio.

Don't know if anyone's said the "Step-Mill", but that damn thing hurts.

the Stepmill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! discuss.
Mega Gym Cardio Equipment Hierarchy (by pieces):
1. 800 treadmills - because everyone associates cardio with these
2. 790 Recumbant Bikes - because you can sit your fat ass on it and read and still say you did cardio
3. 100 Elipticals - MILF's got to do something to keep that ass in shape
4. 50 upright bikes - spinning class people have to have a little something to do when class isnt' in session
5. 3 step mills/stair masters - they where on sale
