well i have a ps3 but i prefer xbox 360s controlls. if you want a blue ray player to then buy the ps3.

im thinking about buy a xbox 360 to my daughter with the kinect and that animal game. thats a good excuse to have them both cause shes 2 years old and i doubt she will have any interest in it atleast until shes 3 :D

To be fair though....I mean they all have their advantages and disadvantages.....
PS3 has a blu ray player and 3D games (if you have a 3D TV), plus some really sick games, and the Plastation move
I dunno, I knew I wanted an XBOX because of XBOX live, and most of my friends have it, so we all play online together games like Halo Reach and Modern Warfare 2, Gears of War, etc
The Xbox Kinect has a ton of potential but its still very new (I have that too), its control and motion capturing is ON POINT and awesome (you don't need a remote like the wii and ps3), but the games out are still very kids/family oriented, hardcore games are still in development.... so I imagine in a year or two I'd probably be using it more often!

I LOVE the XBOX 360 Controller!!!! I even bought another one to use for my PC gaming (its compatible, since Microsoft makes the XBOX)!

To be honest I never owned a playstation or xbox console...i was always a fan of nintendo...gameboy...sne s etc... AND their games...sequels etc, i grew up with them.. :'( :)
I dont know Wii seems childish so im beetween PS3 and Xbox360. the 2nd is cheaper...games, well as far as i know they have the same titles..

I hear you on the first point, but it was all by design. They knew the failure rate before they even launched it. Grabbing market share was more important, and the strategy worked. As for the similarity, all these things are going to gravitate towards the same functionality.
Microsoft won this round convincingly, and the the numbers back it up. And they were able to do it in only two markets vs. Sony's three.

I have no regrets about getting the Xbox 360 this past christmas! Been an absolute blast!!!

Well, i have a PS3 and X-BOX 360 and they both went out on the same day. >:( I had the PS3 four years + more then the X-BOX 360 and they died on the same fucking day. I traded both in that were dead and just picked up a new version of each. :) Pissed me off but i got so much more out of the PS3. 8) The X-BOX 360 remote is a piece of shit and uses batteries...WTF... >:( >:(

The one thing Xbox had over Sony is the game library so a long time Sony had some pretty shitty games but they're coming around

why does the x box controll have one analogue at the top of the pad and the other analogue at the bottom? feels awkward
and the controll is huge and bulky.. one of the worst controllers of all consoles IMO

yeah I was thinking at first that the Sony remotes being rechargeable were gonna die after a while and they still hold a charge years later

My answer will generally lean to the 360, since I feel they just did such a better job this time around, and I LOVED my PS2.
As ND pointed out, you're going to see a lot of similarities in each system. Advantages of the PS3 are going to be the blu-ray player, and it seems to be superior in terms of certain multimedia streaming capabilities, but both systems are always adding features in this regard. Advantages to the 360 are going to be the online game play, and online content.
Games are subjective, but a lot of these games are developed for the 360 then ported to the PS3, so the quality suffers a bit.
Move is a joke, and Kinnect will destroy it. Check out youtube vids of Child of Eden. Developers have had time to play with the Kinnect and will be releasing some great stuff.
Online is no contest at all, XBox Live! dominates in this regard. Take CoD MW2 for example - tons of glitches on the PS3 network, and hackers have destroyed the game. There are numerous examples of this, with Sony users often getting downloadable content after the 360 users have been playing for months.
As for the controller debate, that's subjective. But, I would suggest you pick up both and see which one is easier to switch from the triggers to the bumper button. Also, the 360s thumbsticks are offset, which is more natural, rather than the linear ones Sony uses.
But, the truth in the matter is, you'll probably love either one if you buy it.

I'm not talking about a random google. I'm talking industry articles, objective site polls, etc.
The offset analog is ergonomic, PS3's are not.
It only feels bulky for you since you are not very strong. I suggest more compound exercises. ;D

Yup!!! exactly, one of the reasons I went with XBOX, aside from trading games with the,, you can play together online and its chaotic, just the other night I was on with 4 of my high school friends playing Halo Reach, and all the commraderie on stuff with the headsets, made the money I spent on the system soooo worth it!

use your xbox360 as your primary system
Then, use your ps3 as a Blu ray player and for the Ps3 exclusive titles. The Ps3 is worth it for the uncharted series alone

Yup, you use the internet.... New Xbox has ethernet connection and built in wifi (old xbox only has ethernet but you can get a wifi adapter for like 25 bucks).....
To play online you have to be a member of Xbox Live, and you pay 50 dollars per year (you can buy it for cheper on amazon and ebay).... and you connect with your friends and can play either together, or against each other... you can play together against the computer AI in a game, or play together against othe people who are also online! Its mad fun!
With Xbox (i dunno much about the Ps3 cause I dont have one), you can also buy and download full games online or free demos, rent HD movies directly from them or do netflix, download music!

wrong playing black ops on ps3 was damn near impossible for me
xbox360 I play shooters and the trigger buttons are key for me
also as far as it being a 'jeep' - this is also a plus with my fckn hands so big - controller feels gr8 n my hands and dont go numb that often
the sticks are better cause they are laid out moreso with allows me the look(right stick) move (left) more easily

I could play the Halo Reach campaign alone just fine, even played online against my buddies in multi-player mode, but when I came to play the campaign ONLINE with my friends, it would not work.... I went and I bought a 250GB hard drive (for 130 dollars), and when I installed it, everything worked just fine!
Its really not a big deal but I was not aware of it and was pissed when I learned about it later!

Nobody pays $60 for Live. It's routinely available for $40 and sometimes $30. Even if you did pay $60, it's a whopping $5 bucks a month, and well worth it.
PS3 is free and you get what you pay for. XBox Live destroys it, has a fraction of the problems, more gamers, a gets much more downloadable content sooner, and great games have not been ruined by the hacker community.
The rest of your post is just listing games you like, which we said earlier is all subjective. You list games that you hated that outsold almost all the ones you liked.

If youre a casual gamer, the free online for ps3 is nice but 360 has so many titles..and neat online feaures.
I played the exclusives for both and i gotta say ps3 wins that battle. (subjective)
mlb the show, uncharted series, demons souls and on.
And the best online multiplayer game ever..bfbc2 plays so much smoother on the ps3.

i don't see how it is "so much better", i have never had a problem with psn, though it does seem games download faster on live, the mortal kombat demo is on psn but not live

Read about MW2. One of the best MP games out there was destroyed on the PSN. There's other examples of this. The downloads are brutally slow, since it dowloads it first than installs when the 360 does them at the same time.
You can't voice chat on the PSN while you're playing a game and talk to others that aren't playing the same game.. There's still online games that don't even have voice support on the PSN......

Sales are the only measure we have that isn't SUBJECTIVE. It means overall, people enjoy the game. It means more than you saying Twisted Metal and Uncharted are good.

I played LBP and got bored, finish Rain (great), and didn't finish Resistance and Uncharted. . Been there, played that. But I understand why people like them. I've just played to many games and am very picky.

Read about MW2. One of the best MP games out there was destroyed on the PSN. There's other examples of this. The downloads are brutally slow, since it dowloads it first than installs when the 360 does them at the same time.
You can't voice chat on the PSN while you're playing a game and talk to others that aren't playing the same game.. There's still online games that don't even have voice support on the PSN......
Sales are the only measure we have that isn't SUBJECTIVE. It means overall, people enjoy the game. It means more than you saying Twisted Metal and Uncharted are good.
You say the best days are behind it, but they just sold 10 MILLION Kinnects, and the console is still outselling the PS3 three.

Its too early to compare Kinect to Sony Move - there are a lot of games coming out soon for the Kinect, both family oriented and ones for the hardcore gamers!!

Gears of War can't run on the PS3 because the PS3 struggles with the Unreal engine.
I loved God of War 3, but most of the cannon fodder you fought had low poly counts to keep the framerates up. Most of Uncharted good looking stuff are pre-rendered cutscenes using in game assets rather than gameplay.
But, you shouldn't be buying games for looks anyway.

Earl is right about how advance some games are on PS3 compared to Xbox , some games weren't able to take advantage of the abilities for a long time but I was reading that it's really not cost effective as well to produce these games which is why you wont see many of them , and the same with being exclusive to one system games. Obviously you'll always have exclusives for each platform but newer games are being marketed towards multi-systems because it's more cost effective and this could actually hurt some PS3 games and and not take advantage of the systems full capabilities.

I've always been about the PC - better performance by far and you can upgrade them whenever you like - they're pretty much futureproof for a good five or six years as long as your rig has got the space for bigger graphics cards and more memory. The PC I'm typing this on was bought in '07 and it still plays all the latest games - I can't see me upgrading for another two years at least.
I haven't owned a console since the original Playstation back in 96 and I sold that to a mate so I could put the money towards my first PC.
To answer the original question though, if I had to choose, I would pick PS3 over XBox360, but I prefer the XBox 360 control pad.

another thing that should be pointed out, a lot of 360's exclusives aren't really exclusive, they can be played on a PC

I have a 360, ps3 and a wii.Dont bother with the Wii unless platformers are your thing.If you dont care about kinect then buy the ps3, the graphics and gameplay on the ps3 exclusives blow the 360 right out of the water, the graphics on God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 are unrivaled by anything on the 360 or even pc.If you like to make "backups" of your legally bought games then the ps3 can be modified in 5 minutes with a usb stick and a custom firmware to run your "backed up" games off the harddrive....., 360 would require you to buy a 2nd hand 360 with a 2 year old firmware and then some hefty internal soldering to get the same effect...Kinect however is fun although there are limited games out at the moment but IMHO its worth it for Kinect Sports and Dance Central (no homo) alone.People say xbox live is better but honestly to the average jo public you arnt going to notice much difference between the 2, and ps3 is free and 360 costs per month.

I have 2 Nvidia Geforces video cards, aside from heating the house..They have some awesome graphics..Way better than PS3 and xbox,,,,
I play on the live on the steam network..
I'll just download games via torrents, etc...i never ever bought any games in my life.

Not so, games like Shogun Total War 2 and the Upcoming Battlefield 3, which is being given priority to PC makes console games look like kids games.The difference between Battlefield 3 on consoles and PC is immense, Battlefield 2 was the king of Multiplayer and BF3 on pc with much larger servers, maps, FAR better graphics is going to kick the shit out of the HEAVILY dumbed down console versions.Clips here are from the PC version.The existing Armed Assault 2 which a TRUE military sim makes COD\BFBC look like childs play.

To be fair though....I mean they all have their advantages and disadvantages.....
PS3 has a blu ray player and 3D games (if you have a 3D TV), plus some really sick games, and the Plastation move
I dunno, I knew I wanted an XBOX because of XBOX live, and most of my friends have it, so we all play online together games like Halo Reach and Modern Warfare 2, Gears of War, etc
The Xbox Kinect has a ton of potential but its still very new (I have that too), its control and motion capturing is ON POINT and awesome (you don't need a remote like the wii and ps3), but the games out are still very kids/family oriented, hardcore games are still in development.... so I imagine in a year or two I'd probably be using it more often!
X2.... I was / am a big PS fan, but got the xbox with kinect for the kids for x-mas....I really like it...both systems are good.

I think he's basing it on xbox live being rated as a better online service.If he's looking at it in any other respect then they both have 80% of the same games as multiplatforms and the exclusives are undoubtedly more impressive on the ps3.
