has anybody ever seen an olympic bar snap?
-
That's not that impressive from a guy who has done over 1000 from the ground.
-
Brutal ROM right there ::)
Not claiming I could do it (lol) but what's the purpose of moving a bar barely few inches.........

Training if you hit a plateau
-
For how many reps did he do those ?
-
Warm up reps for SuckMensMuscle.
::)

even though that is A LOT of weight for a pull at any range of motion, I have to say that he either does full ROM or he can kiss my ass

This guy is one of TWO men on the planet who has pulled over 1,000 pounds in competition.
Such an incredible feat. To anyone who actively engages in deadlift training, or has, to imagine yanking so much weight off the floor is nutty.
Oftentimes pulling from a rack at a mid-ish height is more difficult than pulling from the floor, relatively speaking. If the lifter has a strong initial pull, doing so from a rack puts the athlete in what could be described as his "sticking" point to begin the movement.
From a certain height I can pull less from a rack than I can from the floor.
Andy's a beast.

piss off out the thread mongol

Ronnie could do that if he trained harder..... :D

From reading some of the comments, I now know there are many on this board who haven't a clue about weight training to any great degree. And I am being kind.
Rack pulls are useful to the strength athlete for a variety of reasons. If you don't know what these are, you are one of the people to which I refer in the above paragraph.

I know nothing about weight training

He could do more. Hell I did 945 last week from that height and my full range dead sucks of late.

Agreed

Just handling that amount of weight is insane. I probably couldn't even get it rolling.

I watched a guy squat 600lb in the gym today - only for one rep mind you but down to parallel and good form - you guys are probably thinking "that's not that much" but I've never been to a powerlifting contest in my life and it's not often you see that in the gym with your own eyes. I was impressed.

"it's not how much you lift, it's how many schmoes you look you can lift"

No, a 600-pound squat is terrific. Especially if the lifter does it without drugs and equipment. Very, very few could ever do such a feat of strength. A raw and drug-free lifter would likely hit well over nine hundred pounds using sauce and multi-ply gear.

How much can a gorilla deadlift? Or even a chimp. I think it would be over 2000 lbs.
Gorilla Whisperer Approved

Beside of this freaky lift, what a pair of grip he has.. :o

Wonder how Andy Bolton would do in a bar room brawl with Floyd Mayweather?

Did he offer a reacharound?

he's incredible ... there's no way standing on a stage in a thong getting a trophy compares to what it must feel like to move that kind of weight !!

You have possibly underestimated the appeal and personal satisfaction of having 500 men ogle your striated glutes in unison....it's the fuel that propels the "sport". ;D

I watched a guy bench 585lbs once , needless to say the whole gym stopped and watched , his petite wife or g/f was spotting him , he didn't need any help anyway
I watched a local cop load 315lbs on the smith machine and I thought he was going to squat it he ended up doing behind the neck presses for 8 full reps with no spotter I was impressed
600lbs squats are crazy , one item I never wait for is a squat rack lol it's always empty

Yep, the guy in question was a big pakistani guy, I would say at least in his mid forties (he trains his son who is 21 - the son can pull 500lb from the floor) and is natural, not that muscular by any means - just a big, strong guy with a lot of years training behind him - he was wearing a suit and wraps to do the lift but still an impressive feat nonetheless.
-
Insane...but like someone else said - just being able to grip the bar and hold it at all is incredible. Does he have extra fingers?
