That's not that impressive from a guy who has done over 1000 from the ground.

even though that is A LOT of weight for a pull at any range of motion, I have to say that he either does full ROM or he can kiss my ass

::)

This guy is one of TWO men on the planet who has pulled over 1,000 pounds in competition.

Such an incredible feat. To anyone who actively engages in deadlift training, or has, to imagine yanking so much weight off the floor is nutty.

Oftentimes pulling from a rack at a mid-ish height is more difficult than pulling from the floor, relatively speaking. If the lifter has a strong initial pull, doing so from a rack puts the athlete in what could be described as his "sticking" point to begin the movement.

From a certain height I can pull less from a rack than I can from the floor.

Andy's a beast.

From reading some of the comments, I now know there are many on this board who haven't a clue about weight training to any great degree. And I am being kind.

Rack pulls are useful to the strength athlete for a variety of reasons. If you don't know what these are, you are one of the people to which I refer in the above paragraph.

Just handling that amount of weight is insane. I probably couldn't even get it rolling.

I watched a guy squat 600lb in the gym today - only for one rep mind you but down to parallel and good form - you guys are probably thinking  "that's not that much" but I've never been to a powerlifting contest in my life and it's not often you see that in the gym with your own eyes. I was impressed.

No, a 600-pound squat is terrific. Especially if the lifter does it without drugs and equipment. Very, very few could ever do such a feat of strength. A raw and drug-free lifter would likely hit well over nine hundred pounds using sauce and multi-ply gear.

How much can a gorilla deadlift? Or even a chimp. I think it would be over 2000 lbs.
