He used to answer all his emails as well. He is a great guy, keeping his spirits up when faced with the worst of adversity.

Do you own/play some of his stuff?

Perpetual burn = a shred classic.

The Cacophony stuff with Marty F. = great shit as well.

Serrana: Great sweep workout and wrist killer.

lol...Man I could never play with the likes of Friedman, Becker, Vai.  At least not on a whim.  I am a tablature god. Pretty much rythym as I never took the time to know what key to play down the neck to match like first position chords as an example.  I play by ear mostly so a a solo by those guys would take forever.

I just watched the Jason Becker biography on Youtube.  I feel so sorry for him.  It made me feel better when he said he is content with his situation now but also said ALS sucks.  That eye movement technology is great.  I am sure you have seen it.  I wonder how long it took to do that whole cd doing one note at a time.  He still rocks man.  All from his brain.   unreal man.

I've only been learning for about a year (and I'm progressing as fast as a one-legged hurdler!) so I might be out of my depth here!

My two favourite guitarists are prob Brian May (I'm just a general Queen fan) and Mark Knopfler.

I watched a programme on May once and he said that he and his father built his guitar when he was young, and when he got famous companies like Fender (I think) tried to make him some replica's for going on tour, but they were unable to copy 'Red' to his satisfaction.  He also said that whenever he needed to compose a solo, he couldn't do it with his guitar in his hands, he had to put it on paper first.

My reasons for Knopfler are the way he changes the 'emotion' of the guitar, especially on the 'Brothers In Arms' LP.

I thought I'd link this cos I like the guy:

the dude is good but the hair and the Jiffy Lube mechanic outfit does not look good.  I started laughing when he was doing some Kung Fu moves on the neck...lol.  I never heard of the dude.  Good link.

Him and Yngwie always went at it when Yngwie was being discovered by Mike Varney. When one came out with another album, the other would record something faster, harder and more hardcore than the other guy.
I think MA was finally given the title of "Worlds Fastest Guitar Player." Not sure if I would even want that title. :-\
