What are the rules for the 225lbx113 deadlift?
« on: December 14, 2006, 05:02:14 PM »
Instead of starting a thread talking about beating someone up and going to jail, here's another way to shut TA up:  somebody, myself included, do this and post it.  What are the rules...ie. off the floor, straps or no straps, lean back at the top, take small breaks or try to pull all 113 with out stopping?  Let's get it in writing and see who can do it first.

Are you going to run away again after you claim you'll do it?

If I can run away with 225, that proves something right? ::)

He said 225X112 so if thats what he said then 112 straight reps with no breaks......he did say he was superhuman?

logical?

Well, yeah. It's a set of 112 reps with 225lbs. That means rep-rep-rep-rep for 112. No rest-pause. No doing 4 reps, coming back tomorrow, doing another 4, and so on.

Ok 112, 113 whatever.  Straps?  What is considered a lock out?  Since nutless claimed it and never did it, somebody will step up and become a getbig legend.  But we need to be clear about what is considered a good lift here.

I've done 30 and that was hell, no straps.

I could maybe get 50 with straps, but over 100 is going to take some serious training.  Need some ground rules here.

Rules.  Good grip, cardiovascular training, chalk, calloused hands, lower back endurance, strong hamstrings.

Could anyone do 112 with 225?

At that Arnold classic 225 was benched for what, 78-79 times?

Now, thedeadlift uses more muscles and muscle groups than the deadlift, and there is a bigger range of motion. So it would stand to reason that endurance on the deadlift might be harder than the bench press, although it's stronger in terms of low rep sets.

So getting another 35 reps? 35 reps alone with 225 is insane.

Well Adonis claims he can, but he never posted it like he said he would.  Maybe somebody will step up and try.  I know I will.  And I will post it, however many I can get.

I tried already. Did 12, didn't have another 100 in me so I quit.

the way adonis said it was like this:

you get straps, because there's no way to hold the bar for that many reps even with chalk because you'll start to sweat so much it'll fall out of your hands. secondly, you don't touch the floor. how far down you go was left ambiguous, but i think we can say at least within a few inches. thirdly, you can pause at the TOP of the reps for as long as you'd like. you can stand there huffing and panting and getting your air back if you'd like.

honestly i'm interested in trying this myself. if i get past 40 i'd be impressed, but i'm curious as to how many i'm capable of.

logical?

Did he not say lowered to the floor?

If he didn't, he can just use the rack and bounce it off pins.

Straps is no problem , resting on the top means rest-pause, but 112 would still be a feat.

the way i remember him describing it was "off the floor" but not going the whole way down. so instead of the bounce you have to use the stretch reflex, like benching partway down. rest-pause yes like you said, and 112 is just ridiculous, but i'm always up for things like that even though i doubt i'd get half that.

I think I could hit 50 if I blocked it all out.

So if someone knocked you out but you were still able to lift? ???

For the non-pro trainer, anyone who attempts would trouble sitting in a chair the day after completing such a feat.

I am curious as well....

Is this a TRUE dead off the floor or a rack, straps, etc...

This was never clarified.

I did 20 for a warmup set with straps.  I'm sure if I had pushed things I could have done more, but I doubt more than 25-30.  To put things into perspective my max deadlift was 460 with straps and a belt, or chalk and a belt.  Probably not right now after my layoff though.

Great lift Matt- congrats.

I used to do sets of 20 and it was hell when I got up in wieght.  I don't believe 112*225 and I won't believe it if adam posts a video unless someone who's nutreal from getbig is there to witness it.TA's a snake and if there is one thing I've learned that's to never trust a snake.  he's a proven liar....do you guys really think it's beyond him to post a doctored video?

that's pretty good, most I ever got up to was 295 for 20 but they were rack deads, pins set just below knee level, my lower back is f'd up so I don't dL from the floor right now but I might start after the new year.

excellent work, matt. i have to be honest your video repping 225 on the bench is what made me try it myself.  ;D

honestly i'd be impressed to see someone get 135 for 112. just the thought of doing the movement 112 times makes me tired, let alone doing it with any appreciable weight.
