You sir, obviously know nothing about olympic lifting.  You keep calling this guy a powerlifter when he is obviously an olympic lifter.  Also, comparing front squats the way Ronnie does them to the way an oly lifter does them is like comparing Tiger Woods' golf swing to Barry bonds' baseball swing.

the guy look pretty solid, pretty heavy too....... funny how people bash other, i'll bet they can't do it them self.

I would say 99% of the time the guys who bash can't come close to the person they are bashing.  It is there way of feeling better.  Just gotta go with the flow here

Actually yeah, I dont know much about olympic lifting, However, a world record holding powerlifter thats been lifting for 50 years said that grip was at times used by powerlifters but he had seen many sustain injuries using it and said that Ronnies style was better.

I wasnt referring to bbuilding and powerlifting.

I guess to truly understand, and appreciate, the front squat you have to have an Olympic weightlifting background.

Of course, competitive Olympic weightlifters aren't "juiced-to-the-gills" like BBers, since they are RIGOROUSLY, and randomly, drug tested several times a year by the most sophisticated drug-screening system/methods on the planet (i.e. the IWF and/or USAW).

Even though Olympic weightlifters do not have near the muscle mass of bodybuilders (after all they compete in approximately 9-10 different weight classes.), they are usually much stronger in CORE body strength than bodybuilders (comparable in core strength to powerlifters).

Additionally, they are not allowed to compete with all of the considerable added support gear worn by powerlifters...i.e. only a 4-in. wide lifting belt and maybe knee and elbow bands allowed.

Performing a FULL front squat wearing ONLY a 4-in. wide lifting belt with over 500 lbs. (and maybe some added knee bands) is a tremendous feat of lower back and thigh strength...a truly terrific test of core strength if you omit the lifting belt!!  And, in Olympic weightlifting, you have top lifters weighing a  mere 150 lbs. who can accomplish this tremendous feat of strength!  This same 500 lb.+ front squat would "bury" many a 250 lb.+ "strong" BBer !

Another thing, whoever came up with that asinine way of folding the arms in front of the chest when performing a front squat?!!  Rather, you should support the weight at the front of your sternum, as in the finish of the clean position, with the elbows held as high as possible.
This way if you can't rise (and you are outside of a power rack) you can just EASILY dump the weight forward (try doing this "bail out" with your arms folded in front of your chest?!!).  You just need to develop the necessary flexibility in the elbows and wrists to support the bar in front of the sternum, properly, in the finish of the clean position.

To gauge your core body strength, a powerlifter will often ask you, "how much can you deadlift"?...and an Olympic weightlifter, in turn, ask you, "how much you can FULL front squat with"?

what would be so hard about dumping the weight if your arms were crossed? Ronnie did it in his second video with 585 and he just dropped it, i don't understand how it would be any easier with the clean grip.

Dude 530 is not a lot at all. When i was in college our dbs and qbs would squat 535. Im not impressed. well i guess he did it front style so thats cool. i have never tried it like that

Because I've personally observed injuries to trainees dropping the loaded bar on their thighs/knees when trying to dump it forward from the "folded arms" position...one fella, I observed, couldn't get rid of the bar AT ALL and "sat down" on the floor with the loaded bar still fixed in front of his sternum (OUCH!), injuring his lower back in the process!

On the other hand, I, personally, have SAFELY "dumped" hundreds of missed squat cleans, and front squats, over about a 10-year period...and have observed hundreds of similar misses from the "finish clean position" of holding the loaded bar w/o a similar mishap.  This way you just end up sitting on the floor and the loaded bar ends up safely being "dumped" over your elbows/forearms to the floor in front of you...while clearing both your thighs and knees, and simulaneously protecting your spine from injury!l

Oh well, "pay your money and take your choice"!

Duhhh...uhhh...""Dude", there is a BIG difference!!  Try doing a FULL front squat with 535 lbs. w/o a lifting belt and no knee wraps!!!

Not hating, but if you've never tried front squats before then you certainly won't be doing 530 first off.

People generally squat alot more than they front squat. If your guys were back squatting 530, and had never tried front squatting, there's no way they could do this.

Oh i feel you. I damn sure wont start like that. But if i can get 6 leg workouts i think i could do it. 2 max days ago i did 550 for 2 full reps. I think once i get balance and technique i can do 535.

really, who? and how do you know him? first you said you were told by "world champion powerlifters", and now just one that's been lifting for 50 years? again, who? more than that, ronnie's style consists of knee wraps which defeat the purpose and not going down the whole way. so that's not right at all.

there is a guy at my gym who is bigger than average but by no means a mass monster and he squats the same for decent reps.

he is an absolute freak and deadlifts fuck loads too but watching him squat that much is amazing except for the time he failed once and I was nearby! never again!!

ARE THOSE BUMPER PLATES??? SOMEHOW THE PLATES DON'T SEEM REAL. THEY ARE VERY WIDE WHICH IS UNUSAL FOR "REAL PLATES" ALSO AT THE END OF THE SINGLE REP, THE BAR AND PLATES VIBRATESS WEIRDLY WHEN HE RACKS THE WEIGHT AS THOUGH THE WEIGHT IS LIGHT OR IS BUMPER PLATES.
