Watch this.

Also watch Jesse Marunde's real 20 reps with 405.

Then consider 240 or Bust claiming to squat 20 reps below parallell with 405, and 5 reps with 495. ;D

George Papazoglou on a typical Legs Day performing Squats for 10 reps at 200kg (about 420 pounds, 450 including the bar). Could do more but dropped calories and have to be cautious here.

Hahahaha - what a knob - his range of motion can't have been more than four inches. If he did proper squats, ass to the floor, he'd be lucky to do three plates. And even that's being generous.

the guy is not going deep enough at all. hes doing partial reps MAYBE. as far as i am concerned, he needs to go down to parallel or very close to parallel for the lift to count. squats are my favorite excercise. i remember starting out with 135 lbs, 10 sets of 10 reps, ass to the ground.  18 months later and i am now doing 315 lbs, 10 sets for 10 reps.  they hurt like a guy, but ive got my thighs to 28 inches. shit, it takes me about 55 minutes to do all 10 sets with 315 lbs, but shit they are great for mass. but yeah, that dude, in the video would be better off doing 315 lbs for reps and many sets (volume).

The fucking nerve.

Fucking jackass.

As soon as I saw him set the pins that high, I knew he was doing 1/4 squats.

There's a fat juicer at my gym, who does the exact same shit. He thinks he's huge and powerful. If he ever tried a real squat, he'd buckle.

Very true.

I've asked 240 about it, as I'm sure many here have. Didn't get an answer.

Personally, I think he was just swept up by the "need to impress on the net". So he made an outrageous claim.

I could probably count the people that could squat 405 (properly) at my gym in one hand.

i agree,

its one thing to do singles with heavy weight. but its a whole different world when you are doing heavy weight for high volume (10 sets +, minimum 10 reps per set) thats what sets the wannabees from the "warriors" apart. in say 2 years time, i should be doing 405, 10 sets of 10 reps.

I`d be really impressed if someone could do that and have a waist in the 20s and were over 5`10.

These kind of guy should die. I hate them to death.
Because this kind of fat chubby guy always came up to me and say"Listen,I was doing same weight as you are doing".
Then I say"Well I dont believe you, because you dont have any good wheels.OK,Maybe some guys are naturaly strong. But I still dont believe you." Then they keep on insisting.

I just fvking hate these dumbass trying to impress me with this shitty squat and want to compete against me.
They should die and leave me alone.

Well, Cheap Stomach asked, and got an answer, this was before 240 or Bust's meltdown (the life threatening kidney disease, threats to kill MattT and whatnot):

Hi Cheap Stomach,

I'm glad you asked. I get asked all the time about my squatting numbers and I'm always happy to help a young fan.

One fateful summer, I got that free rack, a Sports Authority set, and started. I squatted 2 times a week for one heavy set of 20 reps.  Now and then I'd add deads or benching, but most of the time, it was just squats.  I pigged out at the same time- I had just quit teaching and had nothing to do but lift, eat, and play PS2.

By the end of the summer I had gained 30 pounds (most was muscle- i finally filled out) and I was regularly doing 300 pounds to parallel for 20-rep squats, just like the internet article I had read had described. (We've all read that one- and it works!)  It was at this time I joined a gym and started to break weights over 300.

315... 335... 355... the weights went up as my reps begain to dip below 20. I always had a spotter or two, and usually finished without assistance.  Soon I was using 405, with 2 spotters, every other weekend on Sunday, with knee wraps. I got up to 8 or so very sickening reps that first time, and nearly sharted.  Rough day. But I continued on. It got easier as I hit the early 420 and 430s.

Hurricane Charley came shortly thereafter and destroyed my beloved SOS Gym in Pt Charlotte, FL. So, I joined a new gym in the fall. By this time, I was working a ton and attending FT classes. I started doing cardio- for the first time in 2 years- and couldn't run 1/8 mile without stopping. Shinsplints followed. But after a while, the cardio came easier for me.

Today I usually squat without a spotter and typically don't go over 315 for 10 slow safe reps. I don't use wraps, and I don't weigh 220 anymore. I'm at 191 today.  My knees ache most days from the cardio, so I am careful about risking heavy leg work while dieting.

Cheap Stomach, I thank you for your letter. Best wishes in all your endeavors. Also, I feel my placing at the Ironman this year was due to the fact that I am too involved in politics and that I defended my wife's Olympia placing. Peace.
