Rashad did pretty much what I thought he would do, play it safe and win. I did think he would dominate the fight, but he did just enough to win, I thought it could have went either way tbh. Kind of boring. Alexander got his ass handed to him. Herman looked ok. I was at a pretty large party and there was a lot of talking so I can't say I really payed too close attention to most of the fights. What do you guys think? Was it as bad as most of us thought it was going to be? I would have liked to see Bisping and Rashad go another round personally. I honestly can't see a rematch, no way they can sell another PPV with that headlining.
i think the card pretty much sucked. rashad wasnt impressive. people been talking for weeks and weeks how he would kill bisping but bisping could've won that fight, he fucked up. rashad is boring as hell, predictable. swing to the left and right then shoots for a takedown that can be seen from a mile... and when he gets it he aint able to do much on teh ground. no ko power standing up. bisping had a really good chance there if he would've been more aggressive. his gameplan is fucked up. i tend to remember first seeing bisping on the ultimate fighter show, someone being cocky and confident, being agressive and moving forward with a good variety of techniques mixing it up - hands, kicks, knees, even flying knees - well he doesnt' do shit. just looking scared and playing it safe, waiting for the other guy to do a mistake, maybe hope to get in a few hits here and there but it wont work because he ends up being taken down and losing score on that. kinda reminds me of arlovski. someone who SHOULD be able to lead the fight.
bisping did good avoiding the takedowns first, rashad spending a lot of energy on it, if he could've traded more and worked more actively in the clinch with knees etc he could've won that fight.
rashad got nothing. at least bisping is a non liked guy and brings that

i'd hate to see a re-match with tito and rashad going to the judges decision again. sigh.
ok what else
houston. i wasnt sure which one to pick here but i was leading towards houston and thought he's got the momentum now and is on a roll, and thiagos fight record, tho being 11-0 is bullshit. he fought a bunch of nobodies. but houston was horrible on the ground. are you shitting me? this is 2007 and he's like you go back to the early days of ufc and bring in a boxer and when he lands on his back it's all over, like a fish outta water.
i didnt think they had fighters that bad around these days! what the fuck has he been doing in practice? apparantely it's all conditioning, lifting weights and throwing bombs. and i dont know what his gameplan was. he didnt come out ofhis corner guns blazing. he looked almost outta gas like he spent it all on the way to the ring... he didnt do much in the clinch, he's strong as a bull in there but didnt aggressively go for that type of clinch like for example anderson silva got. if he knew his groundgame was this bad then he should've gone all out. i think he would have a great opportunity against thiago because thiago is one of those macho guys that probably wouldnt have mind to try to stand and fight, he got his 9 outta 11 ko's record and probably believes it himself. i didnt see him aggressively and constantly going for a takedown attempt that you sometimes can see. houston shouldve fucked with his mind and went in "common man, you chicken? lets throw hands!" then he could've been the better of them, knocking him out.
parisayn is boring as hell. i dont know why some people think the world of that guy. he's gotta go. i dont care what his fight record looks like, i dont want to see him on a main card ever again. a judo throw every 3-4 fights dont do it for me.
edgar vs fisher - i guess a lot of people went wrong with this fight, nearly everyone thought fisher would take it. me included. good thing i dont put any money on this sport haha. edgar totally dominated fisher, it wasnt even funny. he was a dominating against fisher as anderson silva against franklin. one of these fights where theres absolutely nothing fisher can do not now, or anywhere in the future. fisher aint bad, and did pretty well, but edgar just got the better of him, being that bit stronger, faster, more aggressive, just MORE of everything. they could've thrown in the towel after the first round.
herman - doerksen this was teh last fight for me to pick, the toughest to pick. i dont know how close doersken was to finish herman but it looked like he was in a pretty good spot and he's an experienced guy. a good boxer with good takedown defense is gonna ko herman. herman swings to widely and sets himself up for a ko. i originally thought doersken did good standing up and might've been better off keeping the fight there... spent a lot of time energy trying to get herman to the ground and it didnt do much for him...
ufc better check themselves putting cards like that together... main fight ending in a split decision. paryisan fight ending in a decision. houston fight big disappointment. not the kind of throw down people were looking for. edgar spencer not being that close could-go-either-way type of fight people were expdcting...
