Here are some interesting questions Dick Tyler asked Arnold Schwarzenegger when they were playing pool in Don Peters house in 1968 shortly after Arnold arrived in California for the first time. Enjoy...

Dick: Have you always specialized on your arms?
Arnold: Yes.

Dick: Arnold, what kind of exercise did you do to develop those arms? I mean, when you first started?
Arnold: I did Zottman curls where I used dumbbells and rotated the dumbbells with each rep. Also cheating curls. Those were the only two exercises I did for my biceps.

Dick: And what did you do for your triceps?
Arnold: I did narrow-grip bench presses and pushdowns on the lat bar. Up until two years ago these were the only exercises I ever did for my arms. With them I sent my arms from thirteen to nineteen inches.

Dick: What does your arm program consist of now?
Arnold: Roughly, the cheating curl, the Zotman curl, and now I've added the preacher-bench curl. I had never done a preacher-bench curl until Vince Gironda put me on it at the gym. It works my lower biceps a great deal.

Dick: What do you do for your shoulders?
Arnold: I do the press behind neck, seated side lateral raises, incline bench flys while I'm facing down, and finally lateral raises with the pulley machine, one arm at a time.

Dick: And this is the first time you'd ever done these exercises?
Arnold: Yes, I only used to do things like the press behind the neck. I've never done such direct moves before.

Dick: What do you do for your legs?
Arnold: What do I do for my legs? First I do hack squats, then front squats, then some leg curls.

Dick: What do you do for your calves?
Arnold: Well, I do these things where you bend over and someone sits on your waist.
Dick: Donkey calf raises?
Arnold: Yes. That's it.

Dick: What do you do for your abdominals?
Arnold: Nothing.
Dick: I've been doing that too, but it doesn't seem to work out the same way.
Arnold: I'm kidding. I do five sets everyday in the situps.

Dick: How many times a day do you train?
Arnold: Six days a week, twice a day. In the morning at Vinces and at night here at Don's house.

Dick: What's your diet?
Arnold: I eat everything.

Dick: What kind of workouts do you take? Are you serious or can you kid around? Some people almost shoot you if you interrupt them.
Arnold: I train nice and slowly.

To my knowledge, Arnold started taking them at age 15 when Kurt Marnul introduced them to him.

Nah. Kurt Marnul knew of steroids and it's usage through Steve Reeves, whome he met in France in 1952 while on vacation, and passed that knowledge on to Arnold.

So Reeves definitely used? I was never sure; part of me wanted to believe he was a lifetime natural.

Have you read the Wendy Leigh Arnold bio? I haven't but supposedly it says he started at 13.

Yeah. I've read and have it. It's not exactly clear as to when Arnold actually started taking them because on when end you have Kurt Marnul saying he introduced Arnold to them at 15 and even helped with the injection, and on the other end you've got Rick Wayne saying that Arnold confided to him that he started taking them at 13. So who knows...

Yes. Here it is...

Kurt Marnul gave Arnold the necessary injections of Primobolin two or three times a week. The injections started almost immediately after Arnold started training as a bodybuilder. Arnold also started taking Dianabols.

According to one Austrian bodybuilder who trained with Arnold he remembers, "Arnold took doses that terrified the other bodybuilders. I saw him swallow eight or nine Dianabols at a time. The he would take a gulp of milk, a handful of protein tablets, and while he was still swallowing and could hardly talk, say, 'Right, now I'm ready!' and start training."

No test was ever mentioned that that was one of the things Arnold took. As for Primobolin...it's just an oil based steroid, is all.

hmm... all steroids surpress or cancel your own hormone production so if you don't take any test to replace it = a bad thing no

Dunno about that - Arnold was banging broads left right and centre back in the day. I doubt his test levels were shutting down. Not to mention his unusual drive and ambition - you need a certain amount of test to see that through.
