My wife's an RN that works the ER often in north Florida and it's a very common occurence there too. There's alot of porch monkeys around here too
I believe it. I also always notice when coloreds are in the ER they have to have half their family tree in there with them. When they leave it looks like Hurricane LaToya went through there. Skittles all over the floor, empty bags of Flaming Hot Cheetos, spilled Orange Crush, McDonald's fries on the floor... just a complete mess.
I can't even count how many times the black nurses or black doctor's get into arguments with patients because the patient says something along the lines of them having a profession or them not playing the 'special treatment cuz I a sista or brutha' game with them. I've hear this one female doctor who is black go off on so many black patients yelling... "That is NO EXCUSE! I was raised without a father and on welfare but I chose education and a life of productivity. I will NOT be your attending doctor anymore. I will send in another doctor. " and they storm out.
Coloreds get angry at other coloreds for getting an education and 'acting white'. The same doctor I am thinking of. She is black. I've HEARD her tell black patients... "what does FIN, mean? I'm sorry but please speak to me like an adult. I am not your 'homey' outside."
I often have to translate ebonics and street slang just like I do on Getbig.
Doctor: How long have you been feeling chest pain, maam?
Patient: I be feelin' it fo' a MINUTE.
Doctor: Just one minute? It started a minute ago when you came in?
Patient: Naaaa... fo a MINUTE!
Doctor: I'm sorry... you were triaged in 30 minutes ago. You told the triage nurse your chest pain has been present since last night. Did it go away and come back a minute ago?
Patient: Naaaa... isss been like dis fo a MINUTE.
Blockhead: Uh, Doc. She means it's been hurting her for quite some time. " a minute" means "a while".
- Block!
