Don't agree there. Only leftist liberals want the underclass. They never encourage the underclass to work hard or better themselves. Instead, they preach welfare and entitlement, which only further discourages the underclass from setting goals and taking action. The whole concept of America..originally..not what it is now..is that in this country you actually have the opportunity to better yourself..Which was proved by the turn of the century immigrants, who worked hard and made a life for themselves. Compare the Italian, German and Irish immigrants with the lowlife, parasitic third world illegals that proliferate here today.
You're pretty intelligent, but also a victim of the propaganda game. Where I grew up, if you didn't work, you didn't eat, plain and simple.
When I was a poor, black kid, I spent significant time with several conservative leaders in my home state (NC). The outside world is told 'work hard and you'll have the opportunity to be successful', but in reality, we only want you to be middle class, nothing more. Sure, some of you are going to enjoy great success and move into the upper income brackets, but when you pour a ton of time and your life savings into a business startup that fails, our banks are going to be all-too-happy to foreclose on your American dream.
Sure, we want most of you to get jobs and pay taxes - we won't pretend that our position is safe if no middle class exists - but we control the system and can limit your ability to build wealth.
As long as we can keep you angry at 'the other guy', then you'll be less likely to see how much more you have in common with him than you do with us.

The super-wealthy on both the left and right are charged with keeping themselves in power and they achieve the same goal through different means.
Don't believe me? Look at how much 'their savior', Obama, has done so far for the wealthy vs how much he has done for the poor. The numbers aren't even close, my friend, and if you think the poor and lower-middle classes are going to close the gap a bit during his presidency, you're mistaken.

If 100% - over even 50% - of people in those lower classes sought to better themselves, it would eventually lead to a significant decrease in the competitive advantage our children and grandchildren, etc. would have.
I'll gladly give up 33-35% of my income in order to help maintain America's underclass. True American conservatism relies upon this.
The game we play works, because we're able to keep you and the others who think like you focused on the wrong thing.
