So that's how you win the unstoppable lol

I guess the old 200lbs "heavy weight" era is over... it's the much heavyer guys with great sambo/jiu jitsu backround that rule now.

"He's an underweight heavyweight and he's finding that out tonight". well said.

sure he didn't knock him down but he wone.

Fedor picked the easy opponent and got his ass handed to him by a 5-1 underdog.

That is down right embarrassing.

Here are some facts for you:

  1. Silva outweighted Fedor by 57 lbs. That is like the difference in weight between BJ Penn and Lyoto Machida!

 2.  Fedor won the first round according to the judges score cards.

 3.  Fedor lost due to a doctor stoppage. He wasn't KOd or embarassed in the cage ok. It should have been ruled a no-contest just like in his second fight with Nogueira.

  4. Fedor took on a younger and much bigger&stronger fighter and held his own against him going 1-1 on two rounds.

  5. Fedor retired, so all of this doesen't matter. Let it go.

He's fought bigger and stronger guys before...what's you point?

Yes, he held his own in the 1st round.  In the second he was completely humiliated.  All he could do was flop from his back to his stomach while getting punched.

He didn't complain when the doc stopped the fight.  It was clear he'd had enough.

And, last I checked he has not retired.  M1 won't let him...lol.

The current #1 ranked HW in the world has no problem hanging with the 'new breed' of HW size and speed. He is about the same size as Fedor too.

Fedor won a round against a 5-1 underdog. He still got demolished in his last two fights.  He has not officially retired, but he mosy likely should considering his recent performances.

What kind of Light heavyweight would Fedor make if he ever decided to take "getting into shape" serious?

I can't speak for weighpshr, but I can't stand Fedor because he is an overrated fighter who allowed himself to be manipulated by his management team.

Better career?  It depends how you define that. I would say Randy Couture. He held belts in two divisions, won some epic battles, came back from devastating losses, made a pile of money, fought the best in his divisions, never ducked a fight, was inducted into the hall of fame and he's still going.

I would never say anyone had the "best" career of all time, but I can think of MANY fighters who have accomplished more in the sport. Randy is one of the fighters I respect most. He has evolved, and accomplished so much in MMA, and to top it off, he's almost 50 and still fighting some of the best in the world. No other fighter in the sport has evolved like he has. That is hard to do.

Hughes, GSP, Anderson, BJ are all fighters that have had remarkable careers.  Fedor was a big fish in a small pond, and showed that he has been unable to evolve with the sport. He also ducked fights that the MAJORITY of fans wanted to see. This is what really tarnished MY opinion of him.

Didn't Bas Rutten recently say GSP is a novice Mma fighter?

I never saw this, but if true, this would surely confirm that Bas has been hit in ht head too many times and has not gotten over his Benadryl and Vicodin addcition :o

Fedor was a stud who probably let time and circumstances get the best of him before he could maximize his legacy...

nothing more nothing less !

for all anyone knows, he'll fight again and start kicking ass  !

tell ya one thing, put him and Werdum back in the cage again, and I'd bet big on Fedor.

By saying Randy was pampered, you've lost all credibility. The guy fought the best LHW & HW fighters of the last 10 yrs. He didn't win them all, but he never ducked a fight.

he was handed a heavyweight title fight against tim sylvia after being "retired" and handed a interim title fight with chuck

you have the nerve to say Fedor fought cans and then say that randy fought the best heavyweights?  who?  pedro rizzo?  maruice smith?  ricco rodriquez LOSS  who are the great heavyweights he fought?  are you including tim sylvia in that argument and than excluding him for Fedor?  does an old Nog count for randy (brutal loss) but not Fedor?

he did not fight the best lhw's unless you consider chuck, vitor, and tito to be the best ::)

Earl, you are missing the point here.  Fedor's record and quality of opponents can be debated as can Fedor's or any other fighter.  I will say it again, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to say who had the 'best' career because there are so many factors involved. It's totally subjective.

I say Randy has had one of the best careers because of his longevity, ability to evolve as a complete fighter, and the fact that at nearly 50 yrs of age, he's still a competitive fighter. He has established a respected gym to train at as well.  Randy has done a ton for the sport and is a huge reason why the sport has taken off like it has.

Not to mention he has been in a couple of decent sized Hollywood films.

When you look at all he has accomplished, you'd have to be a fool to say that it's not remarkable....and to top it off, he is still fighting some of the best in the world at 50!!!!  Do you realize most don't make it into their late 30's at this level?

At the time, these were top ranked guys.  If you want to compare records, many of Fedor's fights were not against top ranked guys at the time.
