love=dying a slow painful death?

love=allowing murder to happen?

It's funny how a omnipotent god had to sacrifice 'himself' in a barbaric way in highly illiterate part of middle east to wash away peoples sins, sins that he by design made sure was innate in them.

The whole concept of washing away sins is disgusting.. it means that you're relieved of your moral responsibilities and consequences. What would separate us from poo-flinging monkeys if we were relieved of that burden?

It's amazing isn't it?  Reveals how truly horrific our sin is and the price that had to be paid to cleanse it.  Our sin being innate?  God didn't create evil, but he did create the potential for evil via our choice to engage in it.  Without a choice we're merely puppets.  And relieved of our morals and responsibilities?  Quite the opposite, as believers we represent the risen Christ and must strive for others to see him through us....that's a tremendous moral and spiritual responsibility.

If you take a step back and look at all the major religions as a whole, theyre all pretty close to the same thing, just cultrual variances between them.
So, IMHO, they probably all originated back from the same place, and as we know, people change things and put there own twist on it...

Perhaps- one common denominator is that religions are idiotic answers to questions we donīt know the answers to? One of the most telling examples of the follies of the religious man is the cargo cult phenomenon:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cargo_cult

Thus, man invents religion again and again...

It's such a cop-out when you say he didn't create evil , no he absolutely did ( according to your own sources ) he created it all , he is responsible for evil and is apparently impotent to do anything about it , for now  ::)

1Corinthians 1: 18-19

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:

   “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
   the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."

That is the one, right? Can't see anything about a mistake. YOU made that statement and the bible obviously did not, now explain please.

I've read the bible from cover to cover on more than one occasion , it's part of the reason I am an atheist.

stop avoiding your comment who said mistake? stop trying to divert your statement and then claiming it's being answered in a round-about way.

God has naver required anyone to sacrifice their child.

Nice try though.  ;)

No, the christian three-headed monster god (before the head called Jesus was invented) only fooled Abraham into believing he should sacrifice his son. Is this any better? What a sadist prick- god!

The Aztec gods demanded sacrifice, or at least the Aztec believed so...

Your god is omnipotent, why was human sacrifice necessary in order to wash away your petty sins?

Quite the opposite, as believers we represent the risen Christ and must strive for others to see him through us....that's a tremendous moral and spiritual responsibility.

So your view on morals is spreading the word of a death-cult? Gotcha.

I know you try to mean well(I hope so, at least) but you're saying some pretty fucked up stuff that if it wasn't under the cover of your religion, would be considered straight up irresponsible and evil.

Another heathen who obviously doesn't know scripture.

God NEVER REQUIRED him to sacrifice his son, if this was the case then he would have sacrificed his son.

God has no beginning and has no end. This is beyond man's understanding.

You pretend to know something about the unknowable? Kinda interesting, but self-contradictory.

Is choice evil?  No.  Can our choices be evil?  Yes.  Not a copout, just the truth.

If faced by the request of murdering ones own son, any reasonable person would give him the finger and take a dump on his failed creation. See how faith and religion fucks people up?

The Pagan battle cry needs to be "We're all just here by mistake!"

That'll go over well  :-\

Well, we ARE here by mistake. At least according to your religion. First, the all powerful and all-knowing god made a creature whose actions he could not foresee in the unfortunate apple-incidence in the Garden of Eden, and he thus punished his own creation for itīs actions. Donīt you think he should take a bit of the blame himself, being all-knowing and all-powerful? Shouldnt he know in advance what would happen?

Further, the god tired with his creation and almost killed of all of it in the great flood. He also punished mankind after the tower of Babel incident, creating linguistic confusion.

It seems that this god of yours is quite human-like, vindictive and irrational... ;-)
