I also haven't insulted, put down, degraded or judged anyone in this thread.  All I've talked about is the love of God, salvation in Christ and made some attempts to bring a little perspective to some other tough questions......if that makes me immoral then Amen.

You don't and you get credit for that , I know most of the time you're just giving more personal prospective and wish people will find God , for that you should be respected.

So the washing away of your sins is worth the sacrifice of a fellow human being(god in your case)? As you've just demonstrated, the foundations of christianity rests upon a highly immoral act and you would have no problem participating in it. In fact, you wish for it to happen.

That's honestly pretty fucked up.

your being very stupid. God is real and Jesus is real. when someone dies they go to heaven. letting jesus be crucified is akin to letting someone become extraordinarily wealthy and happy. the happenings on this earth on not nearly as important as you think, and human suffering is not nearly as terrible as you imagine.

why were old japanese men and women, and children killed by a quake then a tsunami ? What did they do wrong?

Why are you enjoying tons of hamburgers, drinking coca cola and driving a f 150  when at the same time a baby is born in africa and will die in 2 months of malnutrition and illness?

I researched this same question for several hours the other night because I had asked it.  None of the answers I found would satisfy the men and women that brought their lifeless children out of the tsunami waters.  Why did my sister's fiance unexpectedly die?  Why was her faith strengthened because of it?  Why does God allow any natural disaster and then claim that he's a loving all-powerful God?  How can earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, etc....exist and kill innocent hundreds/thousands/millions?  Why was I allowed to almost die in mid-August last year?  Why can't my God-fearing parents overcome their constant financial battles?  Why was my sister's friend's child born with deformaties?  Why did God allow cancer to take the life of best friend's mother a couple years back?  Why does God allow my grandmother to slowly forget who I am?  Why did God allow a young mother to leave her 6-month old baby in a locked car to die of heatstroke?  Why did God allow my uncle to die just shortly after he came to know Christ as savior?  Why did God allow 200,000 to die in the 2009 tsunami?  How many hundreds/thousands/millions came to know Christ because of these tragedies?  How many unseen, unknown loving purposes of God were fulfilled because of these tragedies?  I don't know, but I do know that God has done a wonderful, loving work in my life and that his grace is absolutely sufficient for all of us that accept him.

Unfortunately as humans we're finite beings who often can't see past the situation immediately in front of us.  God, on the other hand, is timeless and comprehends the past, the present and the future simulataneously....an unimaginable scope of perception.  A request of Abraham of this magnitude could not be perceived in it's fullest terms.....I'm sure Abraham didn't imagine that this would lead to the founding of a nation of God's chosen people.  All we can see is the immediate act and often can't get past it even when the events thereafter were laid out for us to review.  He never promised that the cross would not be heavy, that the hill would not be hard to climb.  He never offered our victories without fighting.  He just said help would always come in time.
eeer.... even you have to fuck others people in the ass to get promoted or be sucesful in life, to insure your own survival and the one of your loved ones. It's instinct of survival and it is random, it's struggle for survival, natural selection, the death of the weakest link and the survival of the strongest, fittest,  the same thing happening in animal life. You even said it yourself, it's you and your family before the others. Newsflash, in the animal kingdom the same rules apply, it's the clan, the group, the alpha males and his harem of females before the others clans / groups of animals inside the same specie. Wake up, educate yourself, seriously you re scary.

You enjoy doing good to others because it makes YOU feel good in the first place. Other people enjoy harming the others because their own parents did that to them, so they subconsciously learnt it and reproduce it. It makes them feel good about themselves as much as doing good to other makes you feel good about yourself. It's all a matter of conditionnings and how you ve been wired, raised.

How do you explain someone who s always been good to everyone suddenly dies of a stroke or cancer at 30 y/o ?

How do you explain keith jones dying of obesity and depression while having been "a great man, caring father, surrounded by a loving family"  ?

It only means your instinct of survival forces you to rationalize something that cannot be rationalized. If you are able to rationalize it it makes you live one more day, if you are not able to rationalize it you become crazy. Considering you re an animal who has for sole and only purpose to survive and reproduce your brain which is only intended to allow you to survive and adapt builds these thoughts. But it all originate in the instinct of survival.

You know when "hope" is learned? when a kid see his mother go in the last months of the first years, then learn that she 'll come back. This is where the concept of hope originates. You love women who are a copy of your sister, mother, because you ve been exposed to their influence when you were unable to defend yourself, to survive by yourself. This is where originate the concept of "love". You love other people the way you ve been loved. It's conditionning. Has nothing to do with faith.

When we were homo erectus,  a group had to abandon a weak or old individual on the road to insure the survival of the group as a whole. What you re doing right now, rationalizing, is exactly the same thing. As long as you re not concerned you dont give a damn. That's not faith. That's rationalizing, and that's the instinct of survival at work, at its finest . Call it "faith" if you want. But we find the same behaviors in all animals. From ants to monkeys...to "humans". Even in plants.

yes, the only explanation is that there is no explanation.  That it is random. And that the concept of justice is just an invention and that it is relative depending on where you live and the circonstances. Basically it means we re animals and that only the strongest ones survive.

Dont you have steroids to inject in your ass in the name of jesus or god ?

I wasn't going to post in this thread again, but you keep asking this question. While no one really has the answer to this there might be a pretty good explanation.

I didn't get a chance to finish but here's what I think.....

Even though these tragedies happen and as unfortunate as they are, you cannot deny, the majority of these tragedies have brought most of the world together to help one another, countries become stronger because of a tighter unity, families become closer, seems no matter the what happens be it natural disaster, war, family crisis and so on, in the long run it makes a stronger and more caring world. Thats how I see it.

NOW........here's something for Ubersmartass..........

Little kids are born deformed, people die of terrible diseases, and there are earthquakes and tornadoes that cause havoc. This proves that we are on our own. There is no God! How do you answer that?

Three philosophers are seated in a plane. The first man said that he heard that during the early hours of the night, hijackers took over the controls. As he spoke, the plane lunged to the left and thrust a number of passengers against the wall, seriously injuring some of them.

After the second man gained his composure, he said, Because of what just happened, I don't believe that this plane was ever made. Even though his statement didn't make sense, he continued to maintain that the entire plane, with its seats, windows, lighting, air conditioning, engines, etc., happened by accident.

As the third philosopher began to give his thoughts, the plane again lunged to one side. This time it was so violent that many passengers were seriously injured and two elderly people were killed. He was obviously shaken, but was able to share his thoughts about what had happened. He said that despite what was happening on the plane, he thought all was well in the cockpit.

It was then that someone quickly passed a hand-written note to the first man. It read, Hijackers! All to be thrust out of the plane. Parachute under seat. Put it on now. Going to cut the lighting. Be ready to jump! As he read its words, his eyes widened. This confirmed that something was radically wrong. He quickly reached under his seat and put the parachute on, and then passed the note on to the second philosopher.

The second man read the words on the note. He smiled said, This note hasn't used correct grammar. Parachute under seat isn't even a complete sentence With that, he crumpled the note and dropped it to the floor.

The third man, still shaken by what had happened on the plane, picked up the note and read it. He said, It sure looks authentic. It does have the airlines letterhead. What's happening on the plane does add up to something being radically wrong, I think I now believe there is something wrong. However, he then sat in his seat, not bothering to put his parachute on, or even to pass the note on to others!

Here we have three common reactions to the message of the gospel:

Obviously, the first passenger is a genuine convert. He understands that the issue of suffering--disease, pain and death shows that something is radically wrong between God and man. His knowledge of the jump that he must take through the door of death causes him to trust in the Savior.

The second man is an atheist. He uses the issue of suffering to somehow make an illogical leap into the philosophy that there is no God. The thought that the whole of creation, with its flowers, its birds, the sun, the moon, the animal kingdom, the beauty of the seasons, the incredible variety of succulent fruit trees, etc., all happened by accident. The notion that such reasoning borders on insanity doesn't enter his unthinking and sin-loving mind. He doesn't bother to humbly study the warning of Scripture. Instead, he exalts himself above the mind of his Creator, and condescendingly becomes a critic of the Word of God. He maintains it is full of errors and therefore cant be trusted. [See: Why the Atheist doesn't exist and ChristianAnswers.Net's Creation SuperLibrary for evidences for a Creator.]

The third man is an average person. He believes in God. He even believes the Bible. He is easily convinced that something may be wrong between man and God, but he doesn't see his urgent need to put on the Lord Jesus Christ. How do we awaken these two men?

For the answer, lets go back to the plane. The first man simply needs to tell the other two philosophers to look out of the window for a moment, and to think about the 25,000-foot fall. Their knowledge of the unbending law of gravity should kick in, and from there common sense should do the rest. It should cause both men to look under their seat for the parachute.

The issue of suffering is not something the Christian should avoid. It is glaring evidence that man has rejected God; all is not well on board the flight. It works for our cause, not against it. All these things, pain, disease, droughts, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. should cause the thinking person to investigate the claims of the note of God's Word, and see its explanation.

However, the ultimate convincing agent is, of course, the unbending Law of God. It is the knowledge of the Law and the fearful consequences of transgressing its precepts that should cause fear to kick in, and hopefully common sense should then cause the sinner to seek after the Savior, who lovingly died and rose again, so that they might be saved.

More for ubersmartass..........

WHY DOES GOD ALLOW INNOCENT PEOPLE TO SUFFER

This is one of the most difficult questions for Christians to answer.

The “problem of pain,” as the well-known Christian scholar, C.S. Lewis, once called it, is atheism's most potent weapon against the Christian faith.

All true science and history, if rightly understood, support the fact of God. This evidence is so strong that, as the Bible says: “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God” (Psalm 14:1).
Photo copyrighted.

Most atheists, therefore, without any objective evidence on which to base their faith in “no God”, must resort finally to philosophical objections. And this problem of suffering is the greatest of these.

That is, they say, how can a God of love permit such things in His world as war, sickness, pain, and death, especially when their effects often are felt most keenly by those who are apparently innocent? Either He is not a God of love and is indifferent to human suffering, or else He is not a God of power and is therefore helpless to do anything about it. In either case, the Biblical God who is supposedly one of both absolute power and perfect love becomes an impossible anachronism. Or so they claim!

This is a real difficulty, but atheism is certainly not the answer, and neither is agnosticism. While there is much evil in the world, there is even more that is good. This is proved by the mere fact that people normally try to hang on to life as long as they can. Furthermore, everyone instinctively recognizes that “good” is a higher order of truth than “bad”.

We need also to recognize that our very minds were created by God. We can only use these minds to the extent that He allows, and it is, therefore, utterly presumptuous for us to use them to question Him and His motives.

“Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Genesis 18:25).

“Shall the thing formed say to Him that formed it, why hast Thou made me thus?” (Romans 9:20).

We ourselves do not establish the standards of what is right. Only the Creator of all reality can do that. We need to settle it, in our minds and hearts, whether we understand it or not, that whatever God does is, by definition, right.

Having settled this by faith, we are then free to seek for ways in which we can profit spiritually from the sufferings in life as well as the blessings. As we consider such matters, it is helpful to keep the following great truths continually in our minds.
There is really no such thing as the “innocent” suffering.

Since “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), there is no one who has the right to freedom from God's wrath on the basis of his own innocence.

As far as babies are concerned, and others who may be incompetent mentally to distinguish right and wrong, it is clear from both Scripture and universal experience that they are sinners by nature and thus will inevitably become sinners by choice as soon as they are able to do so.

Elderly woman in wheelchair. Photo copyrighted. The world is now under God's Curse (Genesis 3:17) because of man's rebellion against God's Word.

This “bondage of corruption,” with the “whole world groaning and travailing together in pain” (Romans 8:21, 22), is universal, affecting all men and women and children everywhere. God did not create the world this way, and one day will set all things right again. In that day, “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain” (Revelation 21:4).

Learn about how much Jesus Christ suffered

The Lord Jesus Christ, who was the only truly “innocent” and “righteous” man in all history, nevertheless has suffered more than anyone else who ever lived.

And this He did for us! “Christ died for our sins” (I Corinthians 15:3). He suffered and died, in order that ultimately He might deliver the world from the Curse, and that, even now, He can deliver from sin and its bondage anyone who will receive Him in faith as personal Lord and Savior. This great deliverance from the penalty of inherent sin, as well as of overt sins, very possibly also assures the salvation of those who have died before reaching an age of conscious choice of wrong over right.

With our full faith in God's goodness and in Christ's redemption, we can recognize that our present sufferings can be turned to His glory and our good.

The sufferings of unsaved men are often used by the Holy Spirit to cause them to realize their needs of salvation and to turn to Christ in repentance and faith. The sufferings of Christians should always be the means of developing a stronger dependence on God and a more Christ-like character, if they are properly “exercised thereby” (Hebrews 12:11).

Thus, God is loving and merciful even when, “for the present,” He allows trials and sufferings to come in our lives.

“For we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Jesus taught his disciples that his kingdom was not of this world. They believed him to be the Messiah. So if the Messiah gave orders not to interfere, I don't see a quandry in not interfering. Those who try and save their life, will lose it.. etc etc..

It was an act of love.....the most astonishing act of love ever witnessed.

I beg to differ..

The fact is, according to the bible, Jesus KNEW he was the son of god, or God depending on who you ask.. maybe even both..

Jesus KNEW he was going to return

Jesus KNEW he was going to end right back at the right hand of God just as he was before he came to earth

That pales in comparison to so many sacrifices humans have made for each other, NOT knowing what will happen..

It's amazing isn't it?  Reveals how truly horrific our sin is and the price that had to be paid to cleanse it.  Our sin being innate?  God didn't create evil, but he did create the potential for evil via our choice to engage in it.  Without a choice we're merely puppets.  And relieved of our morals and responsibilities?  Quite the opposite, as believers we represent the risen Christ and must strive for others to see him through us....that's a tremendous moral and spiritual responsibility.

Bible says God created evil..
