Generation Nothingness
« on: May 06, 2011, 07:39:18 PM »
Last night I hung out with a big group of youngsters, age 18-22, American and Canadians.

 Genration Nothingness in full effect.

Zero attention span. Don't want to talk about anything even slightly intellectual. Reaching for the cell phone every 3 minutes. Hopelessly addicted to consumer society. A very narrow, single-minded way of thinking.

And of course they just don't know anything else.

The generation that does not know a world without the internet. A generation that was children when 9/11 happened and that recieved the full brainwashing effect of that era. The generation which is totally disconnected from nature and the natural world.

 Generation nothingness.

We are fucked if this is where people's mindset is going.

This is one of the great cycles of life my friend. Every new generation is viewed as shameful to the one that came before it. Human kind will carry on and there is nothing we can do to bend it to our will.

Nowadays it's different though because different generations are growing up with diferent technology and it's really widening the generation gap.

And we have all these environmental catastrophes looming. We have crooked politicians and bankers destroying the world economy.

Generation nothingness doesn't care though. They just wanna know where the next 80's theme party is.

I guess it's normal for young people to not care about politics and the world, and just wanna party. But nowadays it's taken to ignorant extremes. Like people are just becoming totally un-thinking due to the technology we are surrounded by everyday and the systen that rewards mediocrity.

In 40 or 50 years time the world will be at it's knees. Choking on it's own pollution. Survival will be the only thing that matters at that time.

I know it's easy to get down about all of the bad stuff in the world, but you can't let it get to you brother. One second worrying about peril that we may face is one second you could do something for yourself or someone else dear to you.

When I was a kid we almost had a global thermonuclear war with the Russians, pretty terrible stuff. Whatever we face in the future we will overcome it.

Every generation sees technological advances.....

My daughter has had her own cell phone since she was 7

When i was a kid there was no such thing as a cell phone.

when my Dad was a kid....TV had 3 channels and was black and white

This time we are gonna go off the edge. We are reaching the climax of mankind's time on this Earth. The tipping point is now.

Mark my words. By the year 2030 this world will be fucked.

Too bad everybody is asleep. And won't do anything about it.

But it's all good. After we humans are wiped out the Earth will regenerate itself and the universe will continue.

Humans are just a speck of sand on the beach of the universe.

There was some polling about a year ago or so that showed the referenced age group is actually showing more conservative tendencies. Because of the short attention span, they are also less likely to keep re-electing incumbent politicians which is pretty much the majority reason this Country is in its unfortunate current state of decline...

There is hope! And it ain't Obama!

I'm not looking forward to it.

 I just know it's coming.

I wish people woul change and avoid self-destruction. But it won't happen. We will charge full speed forward until we hit the wall.

Just being realistic. People need to get slapped with the brutal reality.

 Take a look around man.

This world is pretty fucking different than the 80's or 60's.

We're living on a whole other level now. 8 billion people. Internet. High technology. Peak oil. Water shortages coming.

We're facing issues now they were non-issues before.

Maybe you just aren't paying attention to where we're at right now?
