What are some of your favorite local restaurants?
My wife and I eat out for breakfast mostly. We frequent several restaurants which are close to where we live in West Linn, OR.
Yesterday, we went to Shari's in Willamette. Shari's is a chain. There prices are moderate. My wife really enjoys the strawberry crepes. That is what she had for breakfast yesterday. I enjoy their potato pancakes now that they changed the recipe to make them more basic.
Sunday morning, we took my sister who had been house sitting for us for several days to Biscuit's for brunch. Biscuits is about two miles from our house. I had biscuits and gravy with basted eggs and bacon. My sister ordered a Greek omelet. Toby, our waitperson is moving back to her home town in a week. We are going have breakfast at Biscuits on her last day so we can take her a card and wish her well for the future. She is the best waitress we have ever enjoyed knowing. She will be sorely missed by many.
Easter Sunday, we made reservations at 503 a local eatery. This is a fairly high end restaurant. However, it is definitely a neighborhood restaurant as it is relatively small. Everything they make is delicious. We had a several course breakfast meal which we languished over for almost two hours. Their Bloody Mary's are great!
The list of restaurants in our area is long. They range in price, starting with fast food restaurants which are so inexpensive that they are cheaper than cooking at home. The other night, I drove down to Taco Del Mar for taco salads for dinner. Two taco salads to go came to less than $12. You cannot fix them at home for that price. Then there are some higher end local establishments like Bugatti's Italian restaurant where a dinner for two can run about $150.
Frankly, we are a bit spoiled here in West Linn. There are so many choices of places to eat meals out. And if we want to drive a little further, Portland has many, many excellent restaurants, such as: Blue Hour, The Ringside, Jake's and many, many others.
The funny thing about us eating out so often is that both my wife and I enjoy cooking. She is the better cook, although I tend to experiment more and will make more elaborate meals. One of my signature dishes is vichyssoise.
