Nubret did train relatively light.  He said he just did the big poundages rarely or for photo-shoots.

:) weight is relative while 400 lbs in the bench press is heavy for me it might be light for you,as  brock lesnar was said to do sets of 8 reps with 400 lbs in the bench p.

then too old school guys would start off building themselves up with the basics[squat, dips, benchpress, rows, barbell curls} with heavy weight. than when they got to the size they desired they would refine the mass with higher reps and lower weight and a more varied exercise routine.

I saw Dillett train before he moved to So.Cal. He would stand at the cable crossover machine and do light cable crossovers for chest! Didn't break a sweat! Freak of all freaks! When he left for So.Cal, he owed people money for gear!

When we are talking about a man like Dillet people want to see record breaking weights being lifted otherwise they will be dissapointed.

Dillett trained with moderate poundages at best....he didn't need or want to blast heavy weights.  He pinned himself, had an amazing genetic response to the pinning and lifted just enough weight to get by....classic shortcut to "success" in every sense of the word.  I'm guessing he probably didn't enjoy training, but simply loved the attention of being huge.  Had a chemical been developed that he responded beautifully too that would allow him to skip the gym altogether I bet he would've opted for it.  Some guys love to life, Paul Dillett doesn't strike me as one of those guys.

If a person looks forward to leg or back day then they've never trained legs or back LOL.....I dread both.....heck I dread shoulder days sometimes LOL.

Guys I used to train with used to carry plastic trashcans throughout their leg workouts for vomiting.

After some leg days I used to stumble in public places cause my thighs would suddenly give out hours after my workouts.  I can remember after some back days I couldn't wipe my butt good for 2 days LOL....would let the shower help out.

for someone who killed himself for years without steroids it's a rush tho to be able to do what you never could once you get on the bicycle

so that way training is "fun" but i wouldnt say "enjoyable"

I never started using, but was tempted repeatedly to try it....I have no doubt I'd have a great response.  I always wondered what it would've been like to train with chemicals.....admittedly I still wonder LOL.

I used to be scared of leg days with heavy squats! But loved the challenge and the result! My legs used to give out the next day just casually walking! Those were the days!
