Group class with my full body circuit
« on: December 02, 2013, 05:36:23 AM »
I started teaching a group class with my training style. I will register it and also teach it as a masterclass for other trainers and gyms who want a new class. First bodybuilding program adapted to group training and done the right way.

I am not certified. I am my own certification. The dumbells are from pink the llightest to grey the heaviest (5-6lbs maybe?). We also have bar like barbells that run up to 15 lbs maybe .. all is enough for a full body circuit bodybuilding style ..

I have a feeling the stretching part also extends to the full body, right?

Yes. I strech from bottom to top everything for 15 min at the end. I will make a video with the full class at some point.

A lot of trainers aren't certified, and the ones in my class (back in 2003) weren't the sharpest pencils, lol. After all, it's all about knowledge and teaching skills. It's so much harder to instruct a group, instead of 1-3 people, so it should really fit you. I had one colleague who ended with 1 woman, the rest of the group was gone, glad I was 'just' an instructor in the weights room ;D

Perception of effort is not the same as quality of effort.

Laying side laterals with 2lb dumbbells for a female class.  ::)

No I do not. I am much better at this than those who "certify". So it would be insulting for me to go get one. I will offer certifications and diplomas to those who will graduate my masterclass though

you cannot even spot the difference between rear delts done Ron Love and Cormier style in the pic as opposed to @side laterals@ .. so there goes your credibility. For some, 2 lbs is more than enough if done slow and focused.

Sounds like a good, honest concept. Circuit training with weights is perhaps the most overall efficient training there is. Good luck with that!

I agree. What I did one on one or by myself I have adapted to a class. I will leave this concept behind me so others can benefit from what I learned.

I think that's a great idea!

I am still undecided as far as music is concerned. I wanted no music so people learn to focus on the muscle they are hitting. If I choose music it'll be a nice selection of popular hits from the 60's,70's and 80's at moderate volume which I would enjoy.

Sounds like a great idea but unless you train multiple groups who start from scratch, it's actually not. The Group Class thing works because most people attending them don't learn shit as most of it is just cardio disguised as weight training. nobody really progresses. I'v watched so many group trainings and you see that the trainer had no intention of seeing people get out of the pack. If you adapt Bbing to a group class, teach them proper form and how the biomechanics work, you'll have a class with varying development in about 3 to 4 weeks. If you train 4 or 5 groups then ok, you can re-adapt and create advanced/ semi-adva,ced, etc.... groups. Otherwise, you're looking to have just two people attending after 6 weeks.

Every gym would be better of without music, but once you turn it off, they start complaining right away, even if it's Gaga or Bieber garbage.
