Interstellar, the movie
« on: November 09, 2014, 05:13:40 AM »
I went to see it last night. Anybody else see it?

(Bodybuilding related: one of the planets featured had 80% earth gravity, which means that I finally would have been able to bench three wheels)

Great movie, a lot of theoretical physics in it that most will not understand but your avg getbigger will recognize right off the bat.

My son is 11 and he's very into theoretical physics. He loved it. We've been discussing time-travel, relativistic time, gravity's influence on relativity, etc. It's been a ball.

The physics in it are dumb simple.

Like seriously, that part of it seemed way to basic.

Anyways I loved it can't wait to watch it again.

top 3 faults.

1) Why the fucking watch, she was already doing that note pad thing, would of made more sense that she used them extensively.

2) Why does he live after, should of just sufficated where he was too

3) Dude was in that black whole for like millions of years, again wtf.

Top 3 fuck yeahs

1) Robots were bloody cool, futuristic yet not all shinny and magical.
2) The scope of everything was just awesome.
3) The future not being some magical again was awsome.

I am a strong believer in time travel if you are able to unlock the power of your brain you will be able to jump between dimensions and time travel but in the meantime you can use the power of your brain while you sleep to do it, at an advance level with your brian fully unlocked you can do this while awake.

My biggest fault was that that was a huge elaborate setup to give the full gravitational equation to humans. Instead of constructing a wormhole, manipulating time, building a 4D tesseract in a black hole and bending space-time, you could have just sent a letter to Alfred with the equation written out.

no asshole, how many people do you think know that a strong gravitational pull has any relevance on time?  How many people do you think know that there is anything more than 3 dimensions much less a 4th or theoretical 5th?  How many do you think understand why nothing escapes a black hole, why it spins, why it sucks everything in?  Most people can't even tell you the first U.S. president much less the rest of this stuff.

Might round up some old classmates and watch it, considering it brings up a lot of topics in physics.

What's your rating of the movie?

7/10. Too long and some dumb-ass decisions. But fun science and great effects.

Many times during the movie I thought to myself how much I would have enjoyed sticking out my leg and tripping that TARS robot.

I'm really confused about string theory saying there are 10-11 dimensions.

bah. Id trade your arm genetics for my ability to push over 3 wheels anyday.

My arms just dont want to go over the 18" mark. Of course, ive been dieting nonstop for the last year, so that could have something to do with it. :D

That's because no one gives a shit about this kind of stuff.

It's not because a basic level of understanding is hard or complicated.

Children learn this shit all the time, and just as often forget it by the time they reach university.

Please do it. I recall reading you have a PhD in physics.
