There is little doubt our healthcare system needs an overhaul. Simply saying "how about taking dollars marked for "x" and throwing it at "y" is just not worth discussion because it doesn't solve the problem.

But there is no doubt Obama misled the country about Obamacare. He said you could keep your doctor and costs wouldn't change much. Both lies.

Interesting you hate Trump so much, but have you ever looked at why we have him? Obama created first term Trump. Biden created second term stronger Trump.

Maybe the left needs to do an introspective and figure out why they are in this spot. So far, in 2025, all they've done is gotten weaker.

The ACA was better than the status quo. That being said, Obama was an either an idiot or complicit thinking that big business and the insurance industry would not pull the bullshit they've been pulling. So the question is was Obama complicit, stupid, or naive. I lean towards naive. Regardless, the only way to fix health care is Medicare for all.

I work with a far right fellow who's wife recently starting getting Medicare along with a rider aka supplemental. He raves about it and told me the medicare costs $180 per month and covers 80% of everything. The supplemental costs $150 per month and covers the remaining 20%. My math may be fuzzy but it seems to me she should be able to get that last 20% covered for $30-40 per month rather than $150.

Why not allow her or anyone who wants to to pay the prorated difference to Medicare ($30-40) and tell the insurance company to shove the $150 per month straight up their ass? I'd send a letter to the Senator from Tel Aviv (Joe Lieberman) asking him (as he's the scumbag who sank the public option) but thankfully he's dead.

Assuming you are physically healthy, why not opt out of health insurance? The federal penalty for not having health insurance was removed in 2019, so there is no federal tax penalty. Plus NY state does not have a health insurance requirement. But if you get sick enough to need medical care, the full cost is on you and you best pay it. Because, as of late October 2025, the Trump administration has blocked a federal rule that would have exempted unpaid medical bills from most credit reports and moved to overrule state-level exemptions. This reversal means that medical debt can negatively affect a person's credit score.

In this particular incident I'm not blindly defending him. He posted facts regarding the ACA and the rules/laws that pertain to having it or not having it. It could be argued that your TDS outweighs Primes. Just a thought.

Hmm, how many times did I mention Trump in this response? His name came up once in reference to the Trump administration. I am not sure which part of his administration decided to add unpaid medical bills to credit reports, and I did not say this was wrong, because it isn't IMO. So, what makes you think my response regarding Obamacare to Soul Crusher is about Trump? It isn't. It is about Soul Crusher's grip about his complaint about the high cost of medical insurance.

I believe you are confused because it appears it is you who has Trump embedded in your mind. You insert him into conversations which have almost nothing to do with him.

She’s been on it 6-7 months and I was talking to her about it since we are doing open enrollment and she loves it. Why wouldn’t you be on Medicare?
