I don't get where you stand on the socialized medicine? I have insurane, which I pay $125 per week. I've had to use it many times and the meds I take monthly would cost over $800. I pay $94 in co-pays. I've been on the meds for almost 5 years, so it's been a good deal so far. Dr. bills are another story, but without insurance, My wife, daughter and myself would be fvcked. What do you think My situtation would be in Canada? For me insurance has been a God send.
$800 a month for meds?

What the heck are you on... AZT? j/k
Wow Buff, $594 a month for health insurance and meds is a lot.
In Canada, you would have had an extra $35, 640 in your pocket.
And just like snatch_clean says: get sick, need attention, whether small cut or major surgery, you don't pay a dime. No costs for doctors visits or medical procedures etc., No forms to fill out, no wondering if what you need is covered. Just visit the doc, and he swipes your card. Once every four years, you go to get your picture taken for a new card.
Some employers & institutions offer extended health coverage which takes care of things not covered by OHIP like prescriptions. Most I've seen are either completely free or with a 10% co-pay for scripts. For years my extended coverage was 100% free prescriptions, even included free dental care including teeth bleaching

The doc would fax the script over, and it was delivered to my house the next day, ...or if I didn't want to wait 24 hrs for it, I could pay 10% and have it immediately filled at a pharmacy.
CQ: <LOL> You said the wrong thing!

When it comes to getting into Canada, ...going to the doctor is on the list of top 10 things you
DON'T want to be saying. HA! My girlfriend encountered a similar situation in 93 when entering the USA. She was 3 months pregnant and had already has 2 miscarriages. Her and her husband were going down to San Diego to spend some time with her Dad who lived there, then on to LV to spend time with her Mom who lived there. Because of her previous miscarriages, the doc didn't want her driving in a car for days on end, so the plan was for her husband to drive down there in the Gulf Stream, and she'd fly to SD after he arrived. At the airport US immigration questioned her about why she hadn't gone down with her husband, and when she said she was pregnant, they freaked. They thought she was trying to enter the US to have her baby, so her baby could be an American citizen. It was ludicrous considering the fact that both her Belgian born parents already have dual Canadian/US citizenship. Finally she looked the guy dead in the eyes and said "Are you on drugs? Seriously, ...are you? Why the f*ck would I want to have a baby in the USA when I can have it in Canada and be covered by OHIP?" The guy turned bright red, and let her get on the plane.
