I kind of agree with you, but I must admit it would be nice to have a sports car like a Porche of Ferrari for the one and only reason that it is some fucking cool cars! I never gave a flying fuck what others think, so I know I would`nt buy one for "their pleasure". ::)

First and foremost, when Im done studying and my economi is finally booming again, I will get a car thats all about class, like a BMW or Audi. You gotta have a car that fits your persona imo. 8)

Thing about reliability... If you drive a crap jap basic model, you may pat yourself on the back for getting a car that on paper is more reliable than a BMW, Merc etc

Thing is though, they are more reliabele 'cause there's fuck all in them.

The luxury cars are equipped to the wazoo. You cant compare a 5 speed manual fuel injected car with a twin turbo 8 speed automatic that changes gear in a few hundredths of a second and has the ability to switch from auto to manual gears controlled from pedals on the steering wheel.

When you drive these well equipped cars, you feel the difference.

Warranty is an essential part of owning such a car too. You dont buy that much equipment and keep your fingers crossed.

Conversely I always wonder wtf when I see a midlife crisis driving his new vette or viper at exactly the speed limit late at night on the freeway, seriously why not just get a corolla if that's all you're going to do with it?

Driving the wife's z4 the other day I got eaten alive by an older dude in an r8 which made me smile , narrow bridges with no spots for po po to camp = win

Jag, mm no thanks. Too old man vibe and unreliable as they come.

$50k vehicle

$10k down / $2k trade in

72 months

2% interest

6% sales tax

$605 a month

The 2015 Jag part was the off part, it would be a 2014 Jag XF for 50k.

Nope. With your upfront $12k you threw down the monthly payment becomes $771/month of a hugely depreciating asset not including insurance. Unless you're making $200k a year or own a business $771 a month for a car is beyond retarded.

that's why they ake hummers and big ass trucks.  size can be fun too.  not too mention the whole 4x4/off-road community.  jeeps are a hell of a good time in many scenarios.

an old man in a vette going 50 everywhere = lame
an old man in a merc sls cruising and making good time to go visit the guys at the club = win

The place to buy a Jaguar is Miami.  The rich people down there pamper their cars and hardly drive them because It's their second home.  So the used luxury cars are in mint condition.  Take a look on Yahoo auto for XF's for sale within 100 miles of Miami.

For example I saw a 2010 XF for $22k with only 50,000 miles and in mint condition.

Also, a 2009 XF for $25K with only 24,000 miles.

It might be worth a plane ticket down there.

i bought an asian car with 5,750miles on it only so good as new and less than a year old for $ 9000

been driving it for two years it got about 45,000 miles now, so far no problems at all, had to change front tires because they wore out which was really cheap as well. maintenance checkups i did 2 so far, it was real cheap too and no issues

hope this piece of crap will last a few more years

Thinking about picking up this Jag in a month or so...The JD Power reliability score on it is about as low as it goes,

With reference to what you wrote, that car will cost you a lot of money in maintenance. Buy a Mercedes or a BMW or even a Lexus.

Thinking about picking up this Jag in a month or so...The JD Power reliability score on it is about as low as it goes, but the design/luxury rating is as high as it goes.

Just looking for something to cruise to work in, in style. $5k down...$250 a month, so around $20k.

The car is amazing but I worry about the maintenance costs and there are a fuck ton of WAY more reliable cars in this price range, like Lexus, Lincoln, Nissan etc. But NONE of them carry the rarity or upper echelon feel of the XF.

Who gives a shit if your car has super low cost of ownership if you drive a fucking Honda...fucking gross..

http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/616764698/overview/#4

I'd be putting this exhaust on it from day 1.

There are also Benz and BMW in the range, but they are so damn plain, and a dime a dozen...Anyone have experience with Jags? Are they just brutal money pits? Worth the sheer gorgeousness ?

With all the f*ck and shits you sound like a 14 year old. Besides, apparently you have to BORROW money to buy a second hand car. A previously owned Honda that you can actually afford will be a smarter choice    8)

BUT IT'S SO GODDAMN BEAUTIFUL AND LUXURIOUS!! Compare it to a 2009 Lexus GS350 with 70k miles, same price, shit design, shit luxury by comparison, a fucking Toyota basically BUT award winning reliability and low cost of ownership.

Cost of ownership on a 5 year old Lexus GS will be very substantial imo, but depends on how many miles per year you drive

Just print out a jaguar logo and tape it to your steering wheel. It's all in the mind.

Or if you can afford it, just buy one and mount it on your toyota corolla http://www.ebay.com/bhp/jaguar-steering-wheel

BMW M Division sell more manuals in the US than anywhere else. I don't know about the regular models, but with the M models, Americans WANT the manual. One reason is that the feeling of shifting a sports car M model, is different and more enthralling than the auto found in the lux models. I don't know the take rate of the manual vs the Dual Clutch Transmission, but America seems to be the last stand for the manual (in all cars) which most people would think that would be Europe.

There is a certain unwritten rule: You don't buy a Mustang GT V8, Camaro, Corvette, 911, Lotus, M3 without a manual. Now, there are vehicles in that list that come with DCTs and autos that shift faster than the manual, but enthusiasts who buy those cars and like "the experience", want a manual.
