10 grand to open? That's almost worth competing for.

Based on a recent bodybuilders net worth thread I think it's safe to say Big Ron and Jay aren't the sellers. I'm going to guess Lee Haney, his wife had probably  thrown that thing out (I'm sure she let him keep one) and the neighbor dug it out of the trash.

In order for this to have value they need to tell you whose trophy it is.

Regardless, wouldn't pay $50 for it.

Peculiar thing is, if it was Arnold's it would probably be worth a lot. Otherwise, it's worth the $99.99 shipping they are asking. And that's just to melt it down.

In order for anything "collectible" to have value there must first be an attraction, if you will.  Most often it is emotional as in a long desired car or a favorite comic book, both heavily coveted since one's youth.  Things  become more valuable the more others share this craving.

The Weider estate probably has a few hundred in storage. Slow releasing and milking the schmoes.

If you look at the other things the seller is selling, they look like a collector. There is some pretty nice things. There is another bodybuilding statue and some championship rings and other stuff.

Just wait till Schmoe Weider's private reserve collection of soiled posing thongs hit the auction block. Many of schmoes will be fighting over that last second bid

FAKE 1, the real one is on marble base & was on well known auction house sale for 9000 British pounds in December 2014.

Nobody sells real statues on Ebay, probably 1 of Weiders from 1980's ?, Joe was asking  $ 1000  ::)

No patina tells all, would not pay more than $ 300 -400

+ no info's about weight & height  ;D

They also sell Louis Cyr statue 4 $ 10k , FAKE too  :P

What a shame for bodybuilding that Joe came up with this silly notion of Mr Olympia. He set bodybuilding back with that foolish idea. Then he adds insult to injury by coming up with the Sandow statue. Wtf is that? Sure a nice bronze but Sandow doesn't represent physical perfection. Reeves would have been a better choice.

Have a look at the beautiful sculpture of Dorian by Matthew Smith. Except for the ugly veins on one biceps that is one magnificent sculpture.

The Cyr trophy he's also selling is neater looking. I agree, only Arnold's should bring that type of money (and would bring considerably more). I could see a few of the other winners getting into the 2.5 - 5k range (Dorian, Haney, Ronnie). Steep decline after that. Sergio, and Scott could've maybe got into that range, but they were before the intro of Sandow.

And, yes, I agree that a collectible is only worth what a collector is willing to spend. The finger of fame is very fickle in bodybuilding, and I doubt there are enough high dollar collectors to push up the prices too far on these things.

I have done a few bronze sculptures and I can tell you getting them cast cost thousands of dollars for a reasonably sized sculpture. The Chinese factories have produced some impressive, cheap bronzes, but if you get them done locally they cost thousands to do.

Oh, no doubt, I've priced having that type of work done, and it certainly is expensive. But I doubt that the Sandows have enough cross over appeal to non body building fans to be purchased simply as an objet d'art by many folks at expensive prices.

So is this Sandow fake or real?  Does anyone know for sure?

It certainly seems plausible to me that some former Mr O would put their Sandow on e-bay if they needed money.  Maybe Chris Dickerson?

If this is real, I would think some rich schmoe would snap it right up.

Probably Franco. That title has 0 value.

Selling that with no name is like selling a baseball online without saying who signed it. total bullshit.

Guys just some "insider info" on my musclephone that I'm not supposed to make public or it will cost my membership,   but since my 3 year intro subscription price of $19.99 a month is about to double  I'm canceling the service anyway.

Turns out we have a Mr. Olympia who has lived well beyond his means. His "keeping up with the Jones" mentality has led him to walk away from a lucrative supplement endorsement,  only to start his own label which is a MAJOR financial albatross. Due to pristine warehouse conditions as well as strict micro/macro ratios he's literally losing money on every tub of protein powder he sells.

Other life factors like: his pending divorce, handbag and custom shoe collection, cell phone data overage charges (mostly spent on social media silencing the haters), and an expensive,  as well as controversial,  clavicle lengthening surgery have taken their financial toll.

Despite his public persona consisting of bravado and other typical alpha behavior behind the scenes he's rumored to be a broken man.

While he tells the press that he considers selling a Sandow no big deal, as he will win many more, that's it's really a token gesture of giving back to the fans, we know the real reasons.

Good luck Mr. Heath.
