Steroids are illegal in the US. MLB players aren't allowed to partake in illegal activity. While there was no strict steroid policy there was a policy against actions that are deemed illegal by society. That is the EXACT rule he broke.

I can't believe anyone is standing up for this guy, Bonds was a Hall of Famer before he decided to chemically enhance himself and completely change his game. He didn't need to juice and that's what makes it so pathetic. He has obliterated his reputation. There is an actual chance he might not get in the Hall of Fame now. And all because he was jealous of the attention the chemically enhanced McGwire and Sosa were getting.
