Pellius you seem like a decent poster, although you tend to beat a dead horse.
Tom has shared his past on here so if your goal was to discredit him you should try harder. For a dude that was attacked relentlessly about sexual consent ages one would think you'd be a little less inflammatory about Internet gossip.
I get it that you don't know Tom, and neither do I nor do the majority here, and can't take his word for anything. Will you please tell us how you know Mike Ohearn, or someone you know who knows him (of course that will be a lost cause due to the fact that we don't know you and we don't know the people you know)?
It doesn't seem that anyone is upset that Mike is donating his time to sick children, the reason, it would appear, is he's taken a picture with a sick child and he subtly hits a triceps shot in the photo. He didn't do something obvious like hit a front double bicep or for that matter roll up his shirt sleeve and fully flexed his tricep (which would be understandable considering this kids probably would love to see his muscles). What this pic does show is a man casually, yet purposely, flexing his tricep in the photo, almost trying to appear as if that's just how his arm always looks.
Maybe it was an accident or perhaps he was caught in the moment of some sort of transition, I guess we will never know because we weren't there and we aren't Mike.
It's interesting you mentioned Tommywishbone's past, as it would seem the purpose of that was to indicate that you can't really trust a man's opinion based on his poor past behavior and actions. And I'd agree that our actions speak louder than our words, yet when the members here judge Ohearn for his narcissism based on this pic and his past you cry foul.
As for the bold part, Mike doesn't have to lie. He can make no comment, he could ignore the issue completely, he could do a number of things besides claiming to be natural.
But as you said it's a part of the game that you have to accept, so is calling out people who post bs photos to their instagram about all the charitable work they do with their dog for sick children (again I get that Mike has hundreds of thousands of followers and he brings attention to these kids making them mini celebrities, he just doesn't have to make the photo about himself, and I think that's what most of us are saying).
Troll on brother.
Well, you took a lot of trouble to make a comprehensive reply so I will do my best to give it justice and try to address all your posts except the age of consent issue since that has been beaten to death and, well, it's a forbidden topic now.
My comment on Tom's criminal past was more tongue in cheek. I guess it was lost in the written word. But I was making the point that i don't know Tom well enough to trust his opinion. We all have people who do not like us but if it is almost universal then it would be well know. Just like I said about the reps regarding Shawn Ray or Jim Manion, it would be more common knowledge if Mike was a douche.
And I hope I never gave the impression that I know Mike. In fact, I though I made it clear that I didn't which is why I judge him for what he does and not what I think or feel about him. But I do know someone who is well entrenched in the BBing cult and someone that I do trust so I'm guessing he is well versed in the ways of Mike O'Hearn. I will asked him about his opinion on Mike.
And I never cried foul about Mike narcissism. If you read my first post on this thread I was also mocking his obvious tricep posing pic. It's so laughable because of the environment he's in and the fact he is nearing fifty. BBing when taken very seriously is so self-destructive.
My issue is when someone presumes to know what's in his heart and motivation when he does charity work. Like I said, if the choice is a douche that does nothing or a douche that brightens up a child's day, I'll pick the charitable douche every damn time.
True, Mike doesn't have to lie about his PED use. I guess it's not a particularly positive reflection on my character that because this so common, people lying about steroids, that it just doesn't register with me anymore. I mean, I remember a vid with Kai walking down the beach and someone asking if he used steroids and Kai, standing 5'9' 265 lbs at around 7% said, "Nah, I don't mess with that stuff."
I guess he could have just looked at the guy and said nothing but that would come off worse. I guess at this point they should just say, "Of course" like Piana did in one of his vids.
Again, I have no problem with people mocking and ridiculing people like O'Hearn and the always insufferable DLB. I'm right there with them. But I never ever want to diminish or a person when he is doing a good deed and presume that I know what motivates him and can read his mind.
This is, on balance, a shitty, shitty, cesspool of a world where the bad far out weighs the good. So, to me, good deeds is a very valuable commodity and something I want to encourage and praise no matter what the reason it is done. Again, it is a truism that more harm has been done in this world by people who thought they were doing good. So feelings and motivations mean less to me than what is actually done.
I really doubt that Pol Pot got up every morning and said to himself, "OK, so how can I make this world a more miserable place? How can I cause more suffering and pain." He really believed that by rejecting modernity and going back to an agricultural based and simpler way of life would make for a better world. Many still believed that. Except Pol Pot believe the old adage, "You have to crack some eggs to make an omlette." In his case this meant murdering 1 out of 3 of his own people. If you were in Saigon at the time you either were dead or knew several that were murdered by the government.
I hope I was able to address all your points thoughtfully and thoroughly.
