Some people have a pre-disposition to varicose veins and valve problems. I don't know if long-standing high blood pressure would cause that kind of damage as well.

Those are veins, however.

One has to wonder if GH affects the small muscles in vascular lumen. If so, how much vascular damage would a person like that (providing it is from GH use) have inside.

Have I been so naive to not realize that those are branches off of the aorta and subclavian arteries.

dawakaman, welcome to the fraternity. When I was in med school, I was one of three guys who worked out. I am now a practicing nephrologist, and the majority of physicians idea of health is a jelly donut. It is really nice to see that there are others like I out there. Moreover, there are, weed not included, a lot of really bright people on this board from all walks of life. The one thing they have in common is they like BB and its lifestyle. I am not into steroids, but I am the last guy to judge. However, I totally dig the nutritiohn tips i garner from this board along with training tips. Of course, it really is fun to check out the Pro BB scene as these guys are walking X-Men with probably more genetic mutations than Marvel could even imagine. Peace to all.

It shouldn't take a doctor to know this... arteries are deep inside the body. They have to be deep because they're at a much higher pressure than veins, also if they were just under the skin (like veins are) even a superficial scratch would be sufficient to kill a person by blood loss if it nicked an artery.

When a doctor takes your pulse by pressing down into your wrist, it's the artery he's feeling for. That's because veins don't pulsate. If they did, all you'd have to do to measure your pulse would be to watch the back of your hand.

When a person commits suicide by slitting their wrist, it's the artery they're trying to cut.

It's unbelievable that an argument about a known, easily verifiable fact can draw out this long.
