Pudzianowski trains for function.  That function is real world strength.  Bodybuilders train for cosmetics.  Function is not a concern.  Coleman is incredibly powerfull but how many 260 pound pro bodybuilders use 35 pounds for dumbbell curls?  For every Coleman their are five guys that make you wonder how they got got their world class physique when you see them train. I have just seen to many giant pros using girly weights.  I'm not talking about guys using high sets that limit the amount of weight used from the shear volume.  I'm talking about pros full of drugs and oil who work out like wimps.

Big Ron would absolutely BURY Pudz.

Nah, you have *no* idea whether Ron has speed, coordination & athleticism the way Pudz has already proven. IF Ron developed & proved that he had those attributes, it be very interesting. Without those things, Ron would be like one of those other bigger guys on World's Strongest Men who has strength but insufficient speed & balance.

Pudz would do best at middle linebacker or noseguard.

Bullshit, Big Ron would absolutely BURY Pudz. No chance amigo!

I can't help but watch "Big Ron's" On the Road video and notice him being winded after only a few sets.  I couldn't even imagine him having the conditioning to carry 900 pounds on his back 30 meters, let alone run with it like Mariusz does.  No doubt Ron is the best bodybuilder out there right now, but when it comes to lifting Mariusz would leave him in the dust.

Guys just watch Stuttering John destroy him running in the sand on Jay Leno.  You can tell Ronnie is not agile at all.  Used to be, but now being so big no way.

At first glance he looks good, but I wonder how his lateral movement would be on field. Brock lestner was an all american in wrestling and had the size to play o-line, but was cut by the Vikings because he didn't have the footwork.

I gotta tell ya.  Watching him jump rope I did see any problems with having great footwork

That's right. And guy's : Name one bodybuilder who have ever competed in international strong man- competition, and have been in top five at the end. There is no one. Question is, why there is not even one. It would look awesome if Ronnie wins mr. olympic title, and the world strongest man title, so why doesn't he even try? Because it is impossible win in those competitions with bodybuilders physic. Just look what they do in those strong man- competitions. There is running with weight's, stair claiming, rope pulling, rock lifting etc. and weight's are just crazy. Ronnie may be king of the gym and familair with barbells, but it isn't just a same that pulling a truck with rope. And by the way, Pudzianowski have that look because he is ex BB, who have change to new sport ;D

Ron used to be a linebacker, probably still has good lateral motion & overall quickness IF he trains to bring it back through some athletic drills and if he drops some weight, leans out. He'd have to get on a program for a while.

If he did that the biggest difference would be age; in his early 40s his reactions wouldn't  be as sharp but might be close enough.

I doubt it.  They're both strong as hell, but if they work out at a high speed with little rest in between sets I guess it's Ron who would have a sore asshole

True. When I mentioned on this board that when I train my athlete's, clients and kids for functional strength, the naive people on here laughed. This is why I always have said BODYBUILDER ARE NOT ATHLETES. You get someone like Ronnie or just about any pro to even a college or better yet a high school combine doing any type of lateral move and you'll more than likely see some sort of of injury (knee/ACL).

You're a little off there. Many bodybuilders are in fact athletes, even though it's not a prerequisite; some played football. If you'd read the previous posts, I mentioned that Ron was a linebacker (in college), so he's plenty familiar with and capable of lateral movement, given some prep time & drills coupled with some weight loss to improve mobility.

If you have read my past posts I've always said that alot WERE athletes and of course WERE capable of lateral moves, but I guarantee not anymore!

Completely wrong on Coleman-he's been there done that, but would need some time. And there are PLENTY of bodybuilders who have been athletes, it's just not 100% of them.

Ronnie was at one timea very very good athlete.  Once he started to bodybuild though that all gets thrown to the wind.  He can't do half of whatheused to beable to just because of his size and weight.  The one thing though about being athletic you can get it back in some way. Like my strength. I mighthave lost allot fo it from being inactive but it is coming back. Once you get your body back in the mode to train like an athlete you will get it back.  BB is not an athletic event.

Bodybuilding, in itself, does not turn people into athletes, especially if your intention is to build as heavily muscled a physique as possible. However, some specific bodybuilding exercises do assist athletes in their training and fine tuning their bodies for their particular sport.

Give Ronnie 3 months to prepare and he would hang with Mariusz in any workout...I would like to see Mariusz put 225 on his back and do walking lunghes all day long...Rope work can be learned in a day...some of you are silly

Great video. Could you imagine this guy on a football field??

if your talking pros or even div.I college, he would get blown away...Brock Lesner could move pretty damn good and he got killed on the football field...

Being big and strong doesn't mean you will be good at football...You have to actually BE GOOD AT FOOTBALL!

Lesnar was a 6'2" 280lb muscle bound monster who didn't even get picked for practice squad..He completly sucked. He was stronger than most of the people on the field yet as far as football skills goes he was an amateur.

Mariusz would get flattened on the football field..Unless he has years of experience in football..He won't do well no matter how big or strong he is.

It would depend on the individual's ability to pick up the game, to understand how to play. Varies by the individual. He's aggressive & bright, probably could do it with some time & effort,  it's not black & white.
