lives down the road from me, great guy, another great responder...

Peter McGough marketed his story hard and well. He seemed like a hero to me reading about his as a teenager.

Frank did a fantastic seminar after he stopped competing, the first time anyone had spoken openly about gear and what they did, a lot of great anecdotes about his time in America with Arnold.

From Peter

As I entered the hall I asked someone if the intermediates had been on and was told they were just about ready to start the posing round for that class. I spotted Frank Richards on the far side of the hall who had recently finished fifth at New York’s Night of Champions in his first contest for 14 years. Aptly nicknamed The Lionheart following a near fatal industrial accident in 1971, wherein even when he was out of imminent danger it seemed he would have to have a foot amputated. I went to congratulate him on his Olympia qualifying performance and we moved to the side of the hall: he facing the stage and me with my back to it. I asked him, on the basis of such a great result, how long would he go on competing? A couple of years was his reply. I was surprised and asked why so? As I finished the question I heard the opening techno riff of The Eurythmics Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) throbbing from the sound system. Frank looked over my shoulder and nodding at the competitor just appearing, said, “Because of fuckers like that coming through.” I turned and to the background of the purring tones of Annie Lennox had my first sight of Dorian Yates. I’ll never forget that moment.

I remember reading he never wasted a syringe , whatever the ml he filled it up, 2ml/3/ml/5ml

Joe Meeko.

I met him once.  Really good guy.

Seemed troubled.  A friend of mine used his grip device, said they were far better than straps.  Power Grips, I think was the name.

Sorry for a weird question, but did Grant have a Welsh accent?  As he looks really familiar to me so I was wondering if I'd met him?

Grant is from the valleys in wales and has a strong welsh accent. I have known him years and he is a good guy. After winning the british he competed in the Night of the champions ( he told me he struck up a friendship with Markus Ruhl who was competed for the first time in America also) where he didnt place but had some good write ups about his showing. He was expected to go on to better things but it didnt really happen for him due to one thing or another. He was pretty short but had a great physique and carried lots of muscle. Last time i saw him was in cardiff and he had lost lots of size and didnt really look like a bodybuilder anymore....shame as he lots of potential.

Yes it's a shame - as I expected him to do well as a pro.
Great physique - He must of got hollow bones to carry
Such a lot of tissue at a relatively light body weight.

on the Terry Mitsos thing, he was definitely talking about Melbourne. Outside of the capital city of Greece (Athens, duh) and 'maybe' one other city, the largest Greek population in the world is in Melbourne (srs). As to how much 'trade' was going on, I have nfi, other than to say that back in his heyday, there was no shortage of Aus made/sold vet gear available, so I'm not sure how much demand there would have been for stuff from overseas for most people.

No, it was Frank, he got attacked by masked guys (not Ninjas) in a restaurant, with Tony Keegan, Frank got hit on the arm with the butt of a fire extinguisher severing his bicep tendon.
