After seeing  the prison life scenes in Midnight Express, I've never liked Turkey or wanted to visit.

Turkey is on the verge of collapse then terrorism has officially entered Europe.

If Putin feels like he can defend himself without further sanctions thanks to Trump...hierarchy will be restored...the Turks already killed a Russian pilot unnecessarily. The had Obamas backing but now that party is over.

Btw when I lived in Germany where there are a lot of Turks and US army bases...I noticed the Turks had an unbalanced overly hateful approach towards Americans.

Russia is re-assuming more active role in the world and needs to ramp up the security of its officials accordingly.
It's ridiculous at the moment. Even many high ranking officials toil around like common people.

Time to apply the Soviet doctrine:

Six years later, in October 1985, Alpha Group was dispatched to war-torn Beirut, Lebanon. The Kremlin was informed of the kidnapping of four Soviet diplomats by the militant group, the Islamic Liberation Organization (a radical offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood). It was believed that this was retaliation for the Soviet support of Syrian involvement in the Lebanese Civil War.[19] However, by the time Alpha arrived, one of the hostages had already been killed. Through a network of supporting KGB operatives, members of the task-force identified each of the perpetrators involved in the crisis, and once identified, began to take the relatives of these militants as hostages. Following the standard Soviet policy of no negotiations with terrorists, one of the hostages taken by Alpha Group had his testicles removed and sent to the militants before being killed. The warning was clear: more would follow unless the remaining hostages were released immediately.[20] The show of force worked, and for a period of 20 years no Soviet or Russian officials were taken captive, until the 2006 abduction and murder of four Russian embassy staff in Iraq.

I've been twice as I used to date a Turkish girl. It was quite nice when I visited although it helped that I was with someone who knew the language and culture.
It's become very fragmented now. Half the population (including it's President) wants to send the country down a more Islamic route, while the other half wants it to be the secular nation built by Ataturk. Then you've also got the Kurdish grievance on top of that.

You have to remember the real Turks are from east of the Oxus, basically a load of low IQ hill-billy horsemen. Then you have the Eastern Roman empire types in Istanbul...

Ankara, #Turkey - ongoing security incident near US Embassy.  All US citizens should avoid area near Embassy compound until further notice.
