it was rumoured Lyle was bisexual and got AID's which led to his lymphoma

is there any truth to this?

certainly would fit with the image of the super angry tough guy taking his inability to deal with his homosexuality out on the football field

Supposedly his doctor spoke out and said he didn’t have AIDS, but doctors aren’t allow to say this stuff so I don’t know.

The rumor about Alzado having AIDS was rampant in the gay community at the time.  What I found so offensive was his blaming his illness on steroids.

Let me also put it this way.  Of all steroid related deaths, just how many have been due to brain cancer?  None that I know of.  All the ones I know of were heart/liver/kidney related.  If there were any brain cancer deaths attributed to steroids please enlighten me.

Alzado died from T-cell lymphoma in the CNS. This type of lymphoma is most frequently seen in imunosuppressed patients such as those with HIV disease. Ergo he probably had AIDS.

Steroids have immunosuppressant factors as well. I remember when Chris Cormier got sick in August of 2006 at his heaviest weight (and probably cycle) because of a staph infection after a heavy back workout in a NJ gym. He spent the next two months in the hospital and lost all his mass, and they blamed his weakened immune system due to long-term AAS use for why he got it.

Bro the type of steroids you are referring to, which cause inmunosuppression-- solumedrol, solucortef, prednisone, and ACTH do have serious immunosuppressive properties particularly if used for prolonged periods. Anabolic steroids have minimal, if any, real immunosuppressive properties. Alzado got AIDS from taking it up the bum bro/- that simple.
