Yes! Fasting is the key to bodybuilding.  All the all time champions used fasting extensively throughout their winning IFBB bodybuilding careers.

Remember all the articles and stories about Arnold and Dorian, and Coleman and Sergio where they talked about fasting. Yep, fasting is the key.

YOU FUCKING IDIOTS! PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES AND SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT FASTING.

Fasting is for hippies, yoga idiots and vegans.

Love, Tom.

Intermittent fasting.

You only fast for so many hours.

Like if you slept till noon everyday.

Common sense in all things.  No doubt extreme fasting might have deleterious effects.

You also have to stay hydrated while fasting.

Fasting defined is abstaining from food and any liquid that isnt water. A dry fast would be no liquid.

Obviously Bench is sharing his real life experience but there has to be more to than he is sharing. I know multiple people who fast weekly and monthly for religious practice and they arent people who live "healthy/active" lifestyles. I also know individuals who have done 30 day fasts where they only drank water (and in this cases they prep by weaning their body from solid foods for 2 weeks prior to the water only fast). To date these people have had no health issues from fasting.

Obviously i'm not downplaying Benchs experience, i'm just sharing mine.

Tommy are you suggesting a bodybuilder/powerlifter fast weekly?

But I thought Serge was on one meal a day: 2.5 kg horse meat, 2.5 kg red beans.

Learned a lot on this thread. Made me research after hearing your comments. A girl at work had her's removed and said after a month she was okay. Thought it was a non essential organ with little consequences from listening to her.  Didn't realize the complications many experience. Sorry to hear about your trouble. Everyone takes their health for granted until something goes wrong then your life can be ruined. Personally I'm going to pay more attention to lowering the risks to health.

On a side note I always do a little cardio in addition to lifting running 2 to 3 miles. Lately I started throwing in 5 to 6 mile runs. I noticed more than once terrible stomach pain after. Just passed it off as I'm just not use to this hard cardio. Now I wonder if the hard cardio was effecting my gall bladder with the quick fat loss I experienced?

Did intermittent fasting (Berkhan) for years. No difference between that and a normal interval diet provided calories, etc. are the same. Just depends on what you like better.

Yes, a calorie is a calorie.  Anything that puts in less calories will lean you out.

Serge was an interesting fella. There were some people who corroborated the one massive meal a day story and that he used to spend the whole day in the gym to do those monster volume workouts.

I'm going to listen to his classic interview bashing the IFBeBe again because of your post.

That’s exactly what I said about my experience with colitis. Horrific.

Has yours cleared up? What worked.

Anyone use fastings as a method to lose fat here? I know Wiggs does it.  The first I heard of a bodybuilder using it was John Cardillo Mr. Canada.  He was one of the pioneer HIT guys. First used two work sets per exercise then evolved to one work set per exercise. This was radical back then. Getting back to fasting when he was getting in shape for a contest he would fast one day a week he wrote. Thinking about partial fasting.

I remember an article on him in MMI back in the early 1980's
