Where did I say that I didn't think climate changes (things) are cyclical? Of course they are.
Two thoughts:
1. Being an educated specialist doesn't guarantee you're right all the time.
2. Dinosaurs were on Earth for between 165 & 177 million years from the mid Triassic to the end. The Pleistocene Epoch (Ice Age) is typically defined as the time period that began about 2.6 million years ago and lasted until about 11,700 years ago. Dinosaurs enjoyed a warm climate with an average of 73 °F. Earth's current average temperature is somewhere between 57 and 60 °F. During the ice age it was probably about 45 to 48 °F. Not sure why how long ago those ages were is as important as how fast and how much the earth's temperature is currently increasing.
I apologize. I looked back and you are right, you did not say it wasn't. Someone else made the point that it was cyclical, and I assumed your response I quoted was trying to dispute that. You know what they say about the word assume......however, I just made an ass out of me. Sorry!
My point with the ages is that it was warm 66 million years ago, during the dinosaur age. Then roughly 62.5 million years later it was the Ice Age. While avg. temps may have increased (actually the last 3 summers here have been cooler than normal, but to your side of the debate the winters have been the same if not slightly milder.. until these last couple weeks at least). Who's to say another Ice Age isn't in the future?
Enjoy your posts. Sorry for putting words into your mouth.
BTW, I should have known better than to bring up ancient history with an old dude. You obviously know more about the two ages than I do, and have better recall it seems.
