Don't Let Las Vegas Cheat Ya!

I've noticed that Las Vegas jas been devising new and better ways of separating you from your hard earned income .... and no one seems to give a damn!

I call it 'cheaing' but the casinos refer tto this change in tactcs as ..."just another way of doing business necessitated by the tourists' lack of interest in gambling ... and a preference towards chef prepared  food andwell known enteraiment."

Some of you GetBiggers may be planning a  trip to Las Vegas this year and
since I consider mtself to be the all-knowing Las Vegas guru expert .... I'll start this off by offering some LV advice and make myself available if you have any question on how to get the BEST BANG for the bucks you spend while you're here in Sin City.

First of all if you want to have a good time .... be prepared to spend a lot of money.... and how to spend that money wthout be CHEATED nor SCAMMED.

Not too long ago you could get a decent, mid-week, hotel room along the Strip for $39 a night plus tax which amounted to less than $44/night and just a wee bit higher on the weekends.

But now-a-days those sme hotels advertise the same mid-week rates but fail to mention the 'resort fee' unless you are accustomed to reading the very small print which states "plus $39 resort fee'.

And in mnany cases .... that fine print ain't even printed until you see your bill at check-out time. Nor is tahere even a resort within the area.

So the lesson here is .... If you see a decent advertisd  LV hotel room price....consider it to be a lie and keep on reading that small print to see the truth. And then look for a LV hotel that does not have resort fees.

But you ain't gonna find one  ....

So the price you end up payi!ng will be double the price you read as advertised.

For instance some LV hotels advertise daily rates of $49 put you won't see the real 'honest' rate until you read the fine print and see that that $49 fee does not include theb hotel room tax and the outrageous, so-called 'resort fee' which will more than double that enticing $49 offer.

I consider that to be a 'form' of cheating, but these hotels think otherwise because the tourists still arrive and  seldom object.

NEXT UP .... The casino keeps some money that they owe ya and you don't even know it!

Don't forget the paid parking schemes that MGM Resorts introduced and then almost all others followed suit.

Now that gambling is everywhere in the USA, Vegas is just a soso theme park in the middle of nowhere. Might as well go to Phoenix instead- there aren’t any resort fees 😁

Are you braindead? Do you have any idea what it looked like? Also, maybe, just maybe, some people aren't interested in being directly downtown. There is more to do than go to casinos, etc. (Red Rock Canyon). Expand your horizons a bit, slugger.

I always used to read about how it was such an attraction for seniors.  As I'm inching towards my 60's (still far away), I'm wondering why anyone that age would want to be around a bunch of partying and noise?  Seems like it'd make a person really depressed thinking about how life used to be.

RATHERBE, Actually that $39 room rate was for a mid-week room at the Barbury Coast. And if you played one of the slots there for 20 minutes or so, some employee in a cowboy hat would come by and offer you a coupon or two for a damn fine steak dinner in the upscaled, wild west, coffee shop.

Back then in them good old days the Barbury Coast resembeled a fancy wild west bodillo, but now it's called The Cromwell and has been remodeled to look like a mausoleum with room rates of about $120+, plus resort fees, plus hotel room taxes, plus parking.

And bad Blackjack pay-offs of even money or 6 to 5. (Bad enough that smart/wise  Blackjack players/experts avoid it like the plague.)

I'll explain those Strip casino pay-off details ASAP, but in the meantime it's best to play Blackjack off the Strip if you are looking for an honest game.

Resort fees are going on in Atlantic city too.  I go to a casino once a month for a stay over. Newest trick is telling people their room isn't ready at the customary 3P check in. They don't want you hanging in the room but out on the floor spending money. If they give you the room at 8PM they know the odds are you will spend from 3P to 8P spending money and won't stay in the room once you get the key. Had this experience in Harrah's. Everyone was complaining. Never had that experience before.

If you are just looking for a good time and a place to spend money Vegas is great.  If you actually want any chance of making money gambling you are better off in Reno, Primm or small towns like Beatty.

If you live by this you'll have a great time! Their loyalty points are really good.  Harrah's group always comp my stay and a show at their properties.
