Who was the superstar from Detroit on par with Dirk, Ben Wallace? Was Ben a superstar?

That Mavs victory was impressive but there may have not been an actual team that won a championship without a true star like Detroit did.

I was implying the whole run of the play offs

Good point my mistake.  I missed that point.

They ended the Lakers championship run and beat the young Thunder before beating the Super Heat. That is an impressive run

Yeah, he CAN guard 1-5 but when is the last time he actually did it like an elite defender?
That was a terrible argument for Lebron when they used to say it. Whenever he tried to guard the bigger guys (Garnett, etc.) they would get the ball and they would make lay-ups. He can guard them, but not well. Same goes for a lot of players. That's not a knock, but he was way overrated in that aspect. Very few can actually guard all five positions and do it well. Garnett was great at it. Lebron was/is not.

Well its like saying Lebron in 2019 is a better defender than Garnett is in 2019.

Lebron today isnt as good athletically as Lebron in 2011. But Lebron at his peak was almost unmatched. Because Lebron is still playing we, or at least I do, compare his current game to all time great players peak years and that isnt fair.

Compare peak player to peak player or at least compare them at the same points in their respective careers.

For sure

How long you reckon LeBron still has in the league, playing at the high level?

I want to say 2-3 years max

Hes 15 years in with 46k regular season minutes played. What hes done, as far as consistency, is unprecedented (for a perimeter based player otherwise Karl Malone had an almost as impressive run with stability).

2-3 years doesn't seem unrealistic. Lebron takes care of his body like no one else.

The idea is that his game, due to his size and strength, would smoothly transfer to the post but that is a level of physicality, even in today's NBA, that can be take its toll on his aged body.

The real question is his body breaking down? This was his first major injury, was it a fluke or the beginning of the end?

Bron is 90% through his prime career, and there will not be a slowly diminishing version of his game on the court. Lakers move looks like a failed experiment. He could've stayed in Cleveland and wound it down but Lakers fans aren't going to have it unless he produces at the highest level.

Half the current game is running back and forth to shoot 3s...even the centers do it. Closest thing to post up ball would be offensive rebounds for all those missed 3s.  ;D

The level of defense you see now looks like an All Star game in the 90s. Karl Malone didn't flop or play in this charmin soft era either.

Huh? I'm not quite understanding your point. My point was that at his peak he was not someone who could defend all five positions well. Garnett was one of the players who could so I used him as an example. Lebron was not. Great player but that phrase never applied to him at any point in his career, imo.

Im sorry. Your last sentence in the previous post was Lebron is/was not.

Lebron of today doesnt play defense so including that Lebron in the discussion is worthless.

You argue that Labron wasnt good at handling bigger players, right?  Or at least guarding all 5 well, was Garnett really that guy? I dont recall him shutting down point guards at any point or shadowing a teams best perimeter player for an entire game. He did well in spot duty, as Lebron did when switched at times.

Garnett was a better defender than Lebron.

But was he better at guarding perimeter players than Lebron was at guarding post players? I dont think its that big of a difference.

In my opinion, I think because Lebron is still playing we compare his today to everyones best. Lebron at his best was a very good 1-5 defender. Garnett was a better defender at his peak but that also came when he was no longer the offensive focal point in Boston.

I dont know if there has been any one who could guard all 5 well. Garnett is a good choice but Id also include young Rodman.

Negative. More rings, better d, clutch, better scorer, more of an impact player all around. Kobe is better and it's not really debatable.

Exactly, anyone who seriously thinks kobe was a better player than Lebron wasnt a real fan and only went by what the media were saying.Even PEAK Wade was better than Kobe ever was, Kobe was never as good as 2006 and 2009 Wade.

He was also never as good of a defender as Kobe.  Kobe also had a more killer instinct and was more impactful in alignment to that take no prisoner mentality.

Anyway, heading to Scotiabank arena now grabbing dinner then Raps game. Goooooo Raps!!!!!

No one ever compared  Curry to Jordan.   Curry did what I expected. Go his max deal and got lazy. He plays lazy. Sloppy ball handling and passes.  He got super rich and stopped playing as hard.

Lakers flushed their long term future down the toilet for this clown, who is in LA for movies and lifestyle.  We aren't talking Jordan coming back from baseball for a 3-peat.  He'll be lucky if he gets to one final in the West, and that will probably be the last year of his deal
