Foreman did well trying to put his name out there when he came back in 1987, he created a huge hype's machine behind himself, and Tyson obviously was the guy to call out since he was the man.

Tyson also was considered somewhat similar to Frazier, by many that don't know what they're watching, so lots of people thought that Foreman had a chance. Add to that some propaganda's articles by insiders, and you had all the hype behind a possible Tyson-Foreman's matchup, with the rumor that Tyson was scared.

Now, i don't know if Foreman would've took the fight or not, seeing how he carefully picked all his opponents and avoided the big guys, probably not unless huge money. What's sure is that he had no chance whatsoever in that fight.

Foreman, who was a bigger, stronger and a better fighter when he came back, compared to his 70s caveman, lighter and green version of himself, was really too slow to compete with Tyson, and not athletic enough.

No heavyweight before Tyson's time would beat him, especially punching-bag Muhammad Ali. Tyson was too fast, too technically sound, too strong, too athletic and hit too hard for the limited guys from the 70s, 60s and before.

You no ZERO about boxing.  Please don't post in boxing threads going forward.

Come on man, the 70s was the golden era in heavyweight boxing.  Any of the top 25 from then would smash these clowns from today

If Frazier beat Ali ,Tyson could have beaten Ali also, technically there is not one thing Frazier did better than Tyson.

Flawed logic.

One could just as easily say:

If Buster Douglas beat Tyson. Ali would beat Tyson. Technically there is not one thing Buster did better than Ali.

The 'if so and so beat so and so then....' argument is pointless for reasons already mentioned in this thread.

Ali and Douglas were very different boxers. Tyson and Frazier had similar styles with Tyson being more skilled and sophisticated.

Che's analogy is very credible.

1. Ali would most likely beat Tyson.

2. Could/would doesn't change the point of my post, of which you asked ' what's your point'

3. You are still missing the point.

Agreed.

He probably would have also caused Tyson to meltdown before the fight with all his pre-fight antics. The same way he mocked Frazier, but Frazier was psychologically stronger.

If you say so. I would argue that Douglas was more similar to Ali than Frazier was to Tyson.

At his best, Douglas used a flicking jab, right cross, foot work and lateral movement. Same style as Ali. Unless you're thinking of the older Ali who relied on the rope a dope and counter punching.

Frazier used his left hook almost exclusively. The only real similarity with Tyson was his stature and head movement.

Perfectly serious, nothing controversial about it either. Foreman cherry-picked his way through the 90s, facing blown-up light-heavies and cruisers, and guys he outweighed, outsized massively.

Notice that he never faced the big guys and/or big punchers like Lewis, Golota, Bowe, Tucker, Bruno, Ruddock and such. I wonder why, it's pretty obvious.

And yes Tyson would be too fast, strong and good for a slow plodder like Foreman or a featherfisted punching-bag like Ali.

Regarding the 70s being the "golden era", that's propaganda nonsense. The HWs from the 90s, 2000s and even today were and are far superior boxers and athletes, hype doesn't equal abilities.

The 70s or 60s were a crap era, their resumes are awful, everyone gets hyped only because Ali fought in it. Foreman was the only decent HW from that era. Athletes gets better over time, not worse, boxing is no exception, people needs to actually analyze fights and resumes instead of repeating the lies and bullshits of so called historians hyping up the past.

Boxing in America was a domestic sport until the 90s and the fall of the Berlin's Wall, competition was very limited.

Razor Ruddick tried the pre-fight antics with Tyson and they didn't work at all.

Because it doesn't work, they are just selling the fight , trash talking during the fight that's a different story , it can work on your favor or against you.
