They’re about to take a beating. Stayed at the Bellagio and ordered room service for dinner last night. It was quick, as were the other few times. I asked her if they were busy, with people opting to eat in rather than going to crowded restaurants. She said no, that the hotel was at 30% capacity, and tomorrow they’ll be at 8%. She said that’s the equivalent of one floor. Tipped her well and said sorry about that. The Cinacon movies expo is canceled and the other expos through March. The expo I was at had 79,000 people cancel so it only drew 140,000 instead of 220,000. They canceled the last day. They also said the NFL draft is being talked about like it may not go on but that may be gossip. All shows were at 50% capacity, which was their decision to keep crowds down. The casino at Caesars was pretty packed, as was The Mirage (didn’t visit the ice machine) but Aria and Cosmopolitan were dead. Spoke to the cab driver this morning who said he’s not seen it like this in a while. After I tipped the door man at the casino, we got in and the cabbie was like “he’s getting laid off next week”. It’s pretty depressing to witness but hopefully they bounce back.
Side note, I typically stay at Caesars but stayed the Bellagio this time because of rates for Conexpo, and was not impressed at all. I wouldn’t recommend it.
