Yes it does. If there are 2 candles and 1 goes out in the dark the remaining candle is brighter as it's the only source of light.

Very few bodybuilders had actual 18" arms in the 1950s when Gironda competed until steroids came along.

I'm not sure if the IFBB was around during Gironda's heyday. Of, if it were, it certainly wasn't the top organization. NABBA and AAU ruled the roost.

Being super-ripped was not considered healthy. And, I don't think Gironda was the only competitor to be penalized for it.

He wasn't super-ripped. Maybe 12% bodyfat on stage. Maybe it was the abs that made people think he was too "muscular"

I doubt they penalized him for being too lean. Probably just looked too dainty and weak.
