Those rules are like some modern powerlifting organizations allowing grossly excessive arching of the back when benching,as well as not locking out,and spotters touching the bar,and squat suits,etc. etc.
What you did is equivalent to not locking out on a bench press but in reverse.....ie. not a complete and full rep.......to be a full rep,the arms should be at a dead hang at the start of the curls,and controlled on the negative portion of the rep.....yours were not.
