First off this may shock you but I don’t make the rules. My Eogue delivery actually showed up end of day so these are my 2 new bars.The black Rogue bar is what powerlifting 365 uses and is similar to the Ivanhoe 55 act Fletcher uses and some other orgs. The gopher bar is what Sreict curl and a few others use I believe between the 2 this is a good representation of competition bars. The black on is 30lb an and the gopher is 25 Va your standard 20. I have put them next to my two old bars to show the difference. You can see they are longer heavier and have more room for incremental weight adjustments also the grip generally speaking an ex curl bar is less strain on the wrist. The gopher is a close grip and the rogue is considered a wide grip ex curl bar but you can grip them wherever you like. I am trialing with the bars I plan to compete with.

Great additions to the home gym.

And thanks to my new 25lb bar and my new badass painted 1lb rogue red change plate plus my 45s and 2 10s per side  I have now accomplished a new PR.  Can’t be regressing if I m still improving. 157lbs and counting . Oh damn I forgot my rogue aluminum collars are half a Poond so this is actually 157.5 a lb heavier than my meet lift

Is our bhanky now stayroid free?  Oh I know he said he was on HRT but from what I recall the dosage was nowhere near what a reputable doctor would prescribe so if he is on that amount then he is not on HRT.  This would account for the relatively fast improvement in his strenf...'n' sheit.

Regardless he is to be genuinely congratulated for this most recent odd lift effort.

You don't even know the rules your upper back and butt not your shoulders must stay in contact with the wall it was a good lift. Ther typical platform is narrower than your shoulders it is the middle of the upper back that has to stay in contact not your shoulders. But regardless I need to break 160 to set a state or age group record and 170 to qualify for next years Arnold and in a meet not my basement. But working on it now just got my bars and incremental weights was a little sick over xmas vacation. Also the meet environment energy gives a little extra. Hoping to break 160 in March and 170 in July but it won't be easy.

The Rules of the Strict Curl

Your upper back and butt must stay in contact with the wall on the way up and on the way down. Taking a wider stance slightly decreases the chance of your butt moving off.

Could have been cleaner. Did anyone actually weigh the plates to confirm weight or are those like the bumper plates?

I have 1 45lb York dumbell plate, 2 10lb CFF bumper plates, and 1 Rogue 1lb change plate in addition to a 1/4lb Rogue aluminum collar on both sides. Again I was running out of room due to the wideness of the 45lbs plate my regular 10lbers are wider so I used the thinner 10lb bumper. The bar is 25lbs. So that is 66.25 x 2 plus 25 for 157.5lbs total. But no they are not calibrated plates. It's probably off half a pound one way or the other. I plan to get calibrated eventually but I thought the 2 bars and change plates were better investments right now the Rogue calibrated stuff is expensive, and I can just use the weights I have for now. I could weigh them if I was really that concerned but I am not. I figure it is close enough. But yeah I want to get the cool Red thin 55lb powerlifting plates and the thin painted 10s and 5s calibrated but they are 300 bucks a pair they can wait.

The weights will be calibrated at my next POWERLIFTING meet. I am 2.5lbs away from setting a National Age division record for Strict Curl Nation and 13.5lbs from 365 Open Powerlifting division State record and I will claim their age division record at the first meet I enter March 4th. I am also 12.5lbs away from qualifying for the Arnold or the Mr America or the Olympia in the Open division. That is a lot when curling but I have only been doing this since November and I just got a proper bar today. I am working on it. But most importantly I just set a new PR and I will do it again. Can't be regressing if you are improving.

Stalled out at the 3/4 mark.

A real powerlifting meet would have failed that lift.

Meaning, will you train mostly in the 70-80% weight ranges for reps, rarely going to the point you just went to?

Just up the dose and max out 2-3 times a week.

I did 5 reps at 75 then 3 at 95 then 2 at 115 then singles on up after that to warm up. I then did 5 sets of 5 after my max lift at 115.

My trianing program called for 5 sets of 5 today ramp to max but I already did the max attempt first as I was excited to finally get my bar. So no it doesn’t call for heavy singles every workout but it does call for them every other week. I have been deviating from this a little like I did several sets of one arm drum bell curls after this last time.  But yeah basically sets of 5 and 3 and singles and twice a week is the basic formula.
