In contrast to most of you guys, I would have stuck with lower rep power and strength training 2-3 days a week and not done higher rep 5-6 day splits.

I would do 4 reps instead of 2, that is my only regret. Those 2 reps still haunt me today because I know I had 4 in me but the coward in me only did 2.

What stopped you?

I started training for competitive bodybuilding doing 20 sets per bodypart 3 times a week.

Bodybuilding mania caused a permanent loss in my limit strength.

I believe for longevity the pumping style of lifting works best. A pro who practiced this style was Vince Taylor. Keep the reps in the 10 to 15 range and don’t go too heavy. You get the hypertrophy without the structural damage.

Just wait until you're 96.

You'll be sorry.

Vince was always one of my favourite Pros - in my personal top 10 for sure

Yes, and the guys who go overboard with heavy weights end up with torn pecs and bis, messed up knees, shoulders  and backs.

I agree - I also regret nothing.  Thankfully, I randomly went to the gym at 20 years old as an observer with a work colleague at the time (he came from Henda's neck of the woods(ish))  And it was my epiphany - I hit it Monday to Friday for 3 years solid, working on my mind muscle connection and my posture gave me that foundation to call upon - even after layoffs

Without wishing to sound cruel, we've all seen pictures of narrow-shouldered, string armed people our ages - they missed the boat...

When I was younger I despised Taylor because of his weak training with light weights. After age 40 I respect him and train like him. ;D

But do you take drugs like him to get his results?

Would have not stuck with the Stuart mcRobert “abbreviated” training so long. No direct arm training was a fucking disaster and was incredibly boring doing 5 or so exercises a week

Can't believe anyone followed Stuart McWhiner's advice on training. That guy jumped on the hit resurgence band wagon back in the 90's and preached all that overtraining nonsense not to mention his routines didn't work.

I would have never wasted a single dollar on supplements other than creatine monohydrate.

If I spent all that supplement money on clothes I would have been the best dressed man in town.
