So I heard on youtube that Putin had a pre-summit meeting yesterday or the day before with important people in Russia, and that he won't back down from his "maximalist" demands.
Some say Trump just wants to make headlines and get a little something so he doesn't have to impose his sanctions threats, which many think would just hurt the US.
Some think Ukraine will be discussed out of necessity but that there are other topics like trade with Russia; how can Trump make money?
Some say any negotiations with the US are a bad sign and dangerous, the US always attacks their supposed negotiating partners anyway. Of course Russia knows this; Lavrov has said they will never trust the US.
The styles of Putin and Trump are so contrasting. Putin always maintains composure, Trump never does.
The overarching goal for the US, which won't change, is maintaining US primacy and unipolarity, thus the attacks on Russia's friends will keep going on. Russia will always be a threat to the US, as Trump just again stated, and the US permanent, deep state will keep attacking it in various ways, no matter who is President. They talk about friendship but are anything but friends.
“Moscow presents an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States” - Trump this month.
