It's not like those UFC guys in the early days made much money, so what would be the point?

Some legitimate tough guys also actually prefer not having to fight, not because they're scared or anyone but because they don't like who they become when they do.

This is the kind of thing I’m getting at in my post above. It’s what all the Haku stories are like.

Does it make him an excellent fighter? I think it just makes him a psycho (although I certainly wouldn’t fight him haha).

Maybe that’s exactly what makes him a feared fighter now that I think about it a little more. There’s a difference between fighting a guy who is just going to kick your ass vs. a guy who is going to pull your teeth out.
