Why are 60% of Americans over 60 taking 4-5 medications? Is this necessary?
I'm 65 and take zero medications.
The point is that doctors today often do not address the root causes of a problem and just prescribe drugs.
For example, what is the root cause of why you need a drug to sleep?
Would it not be better to correct this issue (if possible) so that you no longer need to take the drug?
In my case there is the matter of my heart, my death and my, for lack of a lesser term, return. The doctors gave me strict orders not to defer from the medications they gave me. Also I wear two watches to monitor my heart as best they can and I must also keep in mind what I think a heart attack feels like and get to an ER as quickly as possible if I think I am having one.
I do not like taking medicines. When first given Warfarin was able to be taken off after a while. It took a few months too for me to convince them I could make it without that rat poison. I would go through places with blood oozing out of my eyes and mouth, often just telling people I was a day-walking vampyre.
I am looking across the room now at 17 bottles. One day I hope to not have any there so I do as they ask. Over 73 pounds removed from my frame because the heart doesn't care if it is fat or muscle. I try to train and this week I am doing better than I have in some time. My older brother has been given some medicine he does not like taking but he has to make his choices himself or with his wife.
So yes, my friend. It will be better when we are able to not have to take something. Until then, it will be a bitter. I can do this again.
