they train hard. I can see why Tom would need 2 weeks of rest sometimes.
leg extensions to failure even with cheat reps for like 4 set and then go to squats i don't know about that though. Would like half the weight I could do in squats after. Im not sure he did this often or usually or just to mix it up
take a muscle to failure and it will respond, any more than that is just wasting your time and doing more harm than good.

I train much lighter and less frequently than I used to since I stopped competing yet I still maintain most of what I had training way harder and longer.
Bodybuilding is pretty much pumping up your muscles and stretching the fascia to allow the muscles to hold more water in the cells
bodybuilers tend to do high reps, if low reps with high weights built muscle then strongmen and powerlifters would have the biggest, they clearly dont, there are strongmen that are fat as fuck and yet fery strong but if they got down to 5% bf you wouldnt even think they lift
If Platz jad stopped after his set to failure and gone home he would have looked exactly the same.
