At this point, I don't care if the lead turns me into a #2 pencil. I just can't eat a bunch of eggs, tuna, etc... anymore. Shakes taste good, are cheap, and easy to make. Also most of the bigger brands came out reasonably fine, with smaller risk.

First line is gold.

IroNat's protein shake:

8-12 oz whole milk
2-3 tbls natural peanut butter (just peanuts and salt)
1 tbls unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)
1 tbls Psyllium fiber
1/4 tsp xanthum gum (thickener)
3 slightly softboiled eggs (optional)
3 ice cubes

Blend and drink immediately.

Petition to make eggs mandatory in the official IroNat shake.

I like the idea of the soft boiled eggs to make them bioavailable but I haven't tried it 8)

I like my shakes as thin and light as possible but lecithin might be used as a thickener for some possible brain and liver benefits from the choline in it.

Recently I mixed some powders with soy milk since the phytoestrogens bind to estrogen receptor beta which can have anabolic effects. Estrogen isn't all bad :D

"Soy phytoestrogens preferentially bind to estrogen receptor beta, which has a different function than estrogen receptor alpha. This selective binding is significant because it allows soy isoflavones to act differently than the body's own estrogen, often with beneficial effects like promoting tissue repair or having anti-estrogenic effects in certain tissues (e.g. breast tissue)."

Probably safer and more healthy to go to McDonalds twice a week for a quarterpounder or a bigmac. European McDonalds I mean.
The American market ones have food with 3 x as much additives etc

Definitely

There is more lead in whole foods than protein powder. The threshold limit the study used to toxicity levels was also ridiculously low. Lead toxicity is magnitudes higher. The media just jumped all over the bs study and sheep eat it up.

Is this a fact or just something you suppose? Also I suspect "additives" are like "chemicals " to the average person, always bad but in reality maybe not. I know for example the meat sourcing differs but shouldn't the products be pretty standardized all over the world for McDonald's items? I only recently tasted KFC for the first time; if I went to the US should I expect to notice a difference in the chicken? :D

There is no safe level of lead exposure.  Personally, I actively try to minimize my consumption of lead because I value my health.  Different strokes for different folks, though.

Van B, for such a bright guy you’re awfully gullible  ;D

I’m pretty sure international chains tailor their offerings to suit the local markets.  Coca Cola tastes different in different countries, I’d imagine it’s the same for a Big Mac. P

I think that the ones that are PLANT protein, with lead is coming from the earth, has naturally more lead in them than other proteins.   Will it change much. Not really. But already I am getting 'advertisements' of lawyers looking to sue companies that have higher 'lead' in the products.

Aresenate of Lead was a common (and very effective) pesticide used by farms decades ago in the U.S.
It's residue is still present in soil, even in organically grown foods.

It's probably still in use in places like China and South America.

We appreciate the use of CAPS and quote marks to signify emphasis and sarcasm, but need to point out the lack of a question mark after your second sentence.

I only eat 1-2x a day. Not a protein shake in either meal and no cooking involved.

I hate cooking and the aftermath of cleaning. I find nothing enjoyable about cooking.

It's a pretty well known fact

I don't travel much so I don't know which is why I asked.

But is it a fact that the produce and meat is "cleaner" in say eastern Europe? In China the McD might be pretty toxic, I mean the pea protein is full of lead. I see some 'conservatives' bragging how American meat is the best in the world, saw Tucker hawk some meat brand saying that, none of that foreign crap for him thanks. I know some say meat in the US is "full of hormones" and antibiotics but I don't know how factual that is. I know some of the hormone concerns are fiction, like the claim that girls go into puberty too early due to the hormones in milk.

But maybe you guys are mostly talking about the taste.

1 tbls unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)
1 tbls Psyllium fiber
1/4 tsp xanthum gum (thickener)
3 slightly softboiled eggs (optional)

Not necessarily. I do prepare meals but it does not really involve cooking.

I’ve never been a “foodie,” or whatever word people use these days; never had a love affair with food. Very hard for me to understand. I eat more for health and function than I do taste or enjoyment. It always annoys me when people romanticize food by calling food/dish “comfort food” or “sexy.” Can’t stand when chefs call food “sexy.” Get a grip.
