When your options are Sprouts and Publix, it is. $250-350 per weekly trip

I can’t believe those are your only choices. Even if you have a travel a bit those can’t be your only choices. Our main stores are Costco for the main proteins and carbs (rice) and either Ralph’s, Pavilions, Aldi or Trader Joe’s for the incidentals and even when I wasn’t dieting we were still well below $600 if that. Beef is kept at ground beef. At Costco we’d buy  about 6lbs at a time and the wife would break up into 1lb zip locks and freeze it

If you’re paying $1000mo for two people shit better be either gold leafed or you’re eating out once or twice a day. If not, I have some diet tips

What she’s saying, is her bill has gone up $400. Now, you can say “be a more frugal shopper” or whatever, but she’s right. Gas, groceries, everything is more expensive now.

Groceries haven’t doubled, that’s idiotic. Lots of liars and trollers Coach.

AI says up 32% since 2020 and less than 4% since January 2025. Case closed

I would imagine that's an aggregate no? if so, the foods normies are buying may be more inflated aka garbage and processed shit.
Perhaps lean meats, rice etc is not up as much overall.

Home prepared bodybuilding food is cheap. Many regular bodybuilders have no job or menial jobs. They’re not all Hankins or Sam Sulek making millions on YouTube. Chicken rice pasta potatoes beef turkey tuna milk eggs and a few heads of lettuce and veggies plus a little BBQ sauce soy sauce etc.Cook it yourself and anyone can afford it except DJ181.

Of course it’s a little more if you adjust for the cost of living. Wages have increased as well but she’s saying she’s paying a $1000 (or that’s her budget) for two…not for six

Ya that's what I mean. The chick in the original post is not a bodybuilder, she is probably buying frozen pizzas, corndogs and shit which is likely the shit that has increased dramatically.

I have zero idea if that's correct but how people eat on here is not normal.

It went up more than that considering she offed 4 people from her house. Everything is more expensive, throughout history prices never go down, always up.

Do you guys really look for 'organic' everything? I haven't really bothered to look up what it really means, if there's a real health benefit or whatever or if it's more of a fashion word. Opinions?

Kind of what BB said - well sourced meats, eggs, A2 milk, stuff like that.

But not everything.

My family was the farthest thing from bodybuilders but that basic recipe was the same for them: a meat, carb/starch and vegetable for dinner, lunch or breakfast. Just different mixes. Regular middle class people still eat this way because of cost and taste and just plain normalcy. People eating majority pre prepared and processed foods easy to throw in a microwave or oven are the exception.

That's the USDA's Guesstimation on how much it cost to feed a person per week and month in 2026 -

Average for a couple (19-50 years old) is $732. This isn't an extravagant tier, they define it as cooking yourself, using generic and popular brands, no organics.

What they call the liberal tier for the same couple is $912.50. This is still cooking at home, but a mix of store and popular bands, and organic foods.

So she might be off a bit, but by the USDA's own averaging, she isn't off that much.

It's BS just using simple maths to check. 600/mth goes to 3000/mth per her claim. Not true.

People embellish. People lie. People sensationalize to get likes.

We are in a decade of extremes. I know people who tell me they can't afford their home and need to sell, even talking about the S word because it's so bad..... Literally the following week they've bought a new 2000 TV and 2 weeks after that they are talking about whether the shed goes in before the pool.

For those who aren’t familiar with Caliber Grocers or prefer to buy food in person Asian markets sell rice for dirt cheap, and chicken breasts run just $2–3 per pound at my local grocery stores. People can easily get food for far less than what they’re currently spending.

Even ignoring that it's all an obvious lie because of the "for 6 people" claim, groceries going up from $600 to $732 over 6 years is very much not the same as them going up to $1000.  $732 is about 4% inflation a year.  And if two people can't afford $732 a month something ain't right IF THEY HAVE FULL-TIME JOBS!!!!!!!!!!

On certain things, mainly red meat, certain vegetables, and certain dairy (especially cheese). They just taste better to me, etc.... I found chicken and pork to be close enough that I don't care as much. The thing that's been a pain lately is that you used to be able to track down rebates and sales quite easily, where it made the difference in cost negligible.

Now those are hard to come by, everything starts out closer to retail, has less of a sales break, etc.....

Thanks, I'll check if I find a difference in taste. Some items seem close in price, sometimes cheaper because of sales etc.

:D That's kind of been my hunch. I should read up on it for 5 minutes LOL. I think I've read that people are under the impression that organic means no pesticides but that all farmers use pesticides, period. There might be difference in types of pesticides sometimes but not sure. I also wonder what "free range eggs" means, what the "range" looks like LOL.

Yeah, and no one is watching what the chickens or cows eat to verify the claims. There have been several companies exposed just packaging regular beef or chicken with a different label.
