Also, while I realize it's 1000+ lbs and things are going to bend a lot more than when I do my cute little 315 dead, that seemed like an unusually large amount of bend in the bar. Reduces how far the weight has to be moved by quite a bit.
They also use a longer "deadlift bar" to reduce the range even more as it bends more. The deadlift bars are also made thinner so your grip is stronger although it doesn't matter with the straps. We have a deadlift bar at the gym and I'd like to use it but my partners don't want to change. A deadlift bar feels more gentle on the body as the lift feels softer due to the extra bend. It can cause a whip effect that can make it harder if you aren't used to it and don't know how to work it.
Some powerlifters with small hands were really limited in the deadlift due to grip, I think Kirk Karwoski was one. One powerfully built fella at the gym has tiny hands so he gave up on powerlifting and went bench only

well that goes against any logic as the strongman tire deadlift has always been higher than the standard eleiko plate deadlifft
and well most 99% of all people are stronger in rack deads than conventional deads
Not trying to argue but there's logic behind what I say and it's not just my buddy, I know other powerlifters who say the same. It has also been discussed by many powerlifting coaches how some have stronger floor pulls compared to just below the knee. You have the momentum created if you have really strong leg drive. The rack lift is more back and weight feels more "dead" for many. I had a stronger rack lift but I had pretty a straight leg style floor deadlift as well and I did a ton of good mornings, even did them seated straddling a bench, took the hams out more. So I had a relatively strong back compared to legs which were always twigs. If you look at how weight lifters start; they squat all the way down then come up just a bit before they initiate, gives more momentum, but at the same time I realize it's a different sport. Strongman is more brutish than powerlifting, a bit less technique. They often hitch like the fella did here a bit, powerlifters don't.
Edit. I asked AI LOL. See the 'anatomy match' at the bottom.
